How safe is online dating, should you really trust the person at the other end, even if you have never met?

Meeting some one online as far as I am concerened is not much different from meeting a total stranger on the street. The only difference is that you don't get to see the person, which means the person can lie about almost anything from sex, age, nationality, looks, occupation,level of education, you name it.
This makes it almost impossible to trust someone you meet on the net but the same applies to meeting plp physically except that the person cannot lie about abvious things like looks, age and sex.
What I'll advice about internet friends is that you should keep being just that for as long as possible even before exchanging phone numbers, try to find out the kind of person that person is by paying attention to what ever he says, if you see that he could be lying to you, cut off all communication.
If you decide to meet the person physically, choose a public place like an eatery or a park. If you don't like what you see, you got nothing to loose.
Remember, don't give out your house address and your office address, you may talk about the area, but don't be precise.

True words yimiton. Even strangers lie. I honestly believe that the people who hurt us most are mostly mischievious strangers whom we gave our trust only to hit us at our weakest point. They are more dangerous than an online friend or lover whose goals may be primarily to defraud. If you can protect yourself from that danger, you would be glad you try it.
