@chiself
Hope you're following

Were you expecting the plane to stay in Nigeria, or go to UK or Ghana or what are you on about?
It was an unveiling not the beginning of the operation, I stated this many times. The plane has gone back home, Ethiopia. It is an Ethiopian Airlines plane. When Nigeria Air starts it operation then you will see the Nigeria Air planes in the hanger in Nigeria. The link you posted is disgraceful because a 12 year old plane spotter can easily track this Flightradar24. Is this Nigeria journalism grin

One thing you should understand is that I couldn't care less about Nigeria Air, as someone who believes in less government intervention, Nigeria Air is not top of my priority list. However, we have airlines such as Arik, Virgin Nigeria and Air Peace who have not been able to cash in on the lucrative air routes from Nigeria. Maybe this is a reason why Nigeria is looking for a National carrier, I think it more for international and regional and not local routes. The Lagos - London route is one of the most lucrative for British Airways, so why should Nigeria miss out on this? I believe that could be a reason for the national carrier but that is just my speculation,(not fact).

I posted in this thread because it is irritating where Nigerians first instinct is always to criticise. Always this scepticism, them verse us, they want to steal money, they are corrupt, they are this ,they are that. It always comes down to corruption but nearly 90% of the population do not even understand corruption.

I have a rule based on Adam Smith, "we believe in freedom", which is if you see a hole on the road and you try to avoid it because you know if you don't you will fall and hurt yourself , what make you think other people who are not mad or children, who have also seen the hole will not avoid the hole? Your assumptions are basic and your last post is an example where you are 100% sure I took my source from Wikipedia. That is where we differ but is the norm in Nigeria.

It's obvious now you're either just playing or being ridiculous.
What exactly is unveiling? No office, no crew, no website, just an airplane with paint that vanished less than 24hhrs later. C'mon man. You're too smart for this. Here's an excerpt from the main issue I've highlighted which you claimed was "competition"

AON added: “This goes to show that Ethiopia Airline operators have no iota of respect for our country, our laws, and regulatory agencies. It is our hope that Ethiopia Airlines does not get away with this disrespectful action.”
AON also lauded the NCAA, under the leadership of Capt. Musa Nuhu, its Director-General for not succumbing to pressure to issue an AOC to Nigeria Air.

AON declared that AOC was also a safety certificate by which the NCAA certifies that the holder had demonstrated that it is fit to conduct safe flight operations.

To achieve this, it said a prospective airline is put through a rigorous five-phase certification process before it is granted the certificate.

It emphasized that the implication of granting an AOC to Nigeria Air without it successfully going through the process was considered by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) as a serious infraction, which is also punishable.

It explained that this act was capable of causing Nigeria to be blacklisted by aviation safety agencies like the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).

You can see how Sirika wanted to get a five stage license for Ethiopian Airlines under the cover of Nigeria Air without going through the stages. This is one of the issues that prompted the court case.

While it is not true that our local airlines don't ply lucrative routes like Lagos-London, the main reason why they have not been really active in the international routes is more of financial than technical. Our local airlines are really struggling financially if you're aware of the realities of that sector. In fact, it's a big kudos to them for their prudent management that they've been able to stay afloat. Most international airlines got billions of dollars as bail out during covid while ours got pittance which didn't even come at the right time yet you want them to compete on the international stage. Do you know there are only four lucrative routes in the whole of Nigerian domestic airspace as big as Nigeria is. Less than 20% of our population patronise flights. So it's easy to see how difficult the terrain is. Yet a minister who is supposed to develop the sector wants to open it up to unfair foreign competition that will kill our local airlines in the name of national carrier. If the man meant well, why didn't he just restrict the so-called carrier to international routes only to start with until it is divorced from Ethiopian Airlines. Your speculation is wrong. Nigeria Air is expected to fly both local and international.

And I'm not just criticising for the fun of it. It is you who have simply refuse to get a proper enlightenment on the matter but just defending an obviously corrupt and stupid minister with "ifs" and "buts". I'm yet to see anyone who is connected to Aviation in Nigeria give the minister the benefit of doubt in the matter except you, an online analyst. And i believe even the sitting MD and a former MD of NCAA cannot be crying wolf where there is none.
So it's either you're just blinded by flippant, ignorant optimism or you're an online defender. Given my experience with SM, I think I'll go with the latter cause no sane human with neutral standing will be defending this obvious mess the minister made.

Here is a Nigerian newspaper headline
Subsidy: Tinubu to fix one refinery before December — Kyari

Here is Nigerians response

Based on empirical data, shouldn't the headline read, "we plan to embezzle more money before December".

Putting the cart before the horse. What were you guys doing for the past eight years

Lies from the pit of hell. Nigeria politicians and the word “to”. Sounds like a promissory note

This TAM scam is so old. Try to be creative in stealing money

Dem don come again with their lies ooo

When you have those type of mindset, the country can not move forward. People are living in Nigeria like they are living in an hostel and not their father's house. We saw when Thailand had problems, and the citizens were donating their golds to the central bank.

It best to work from top to bottom and not bottom to top which is what you are doing. Just like the above comments, the assumptions is that minister of aviation intentions are not good. I do not believe that, but not believing that doesn't not mean it is not going to play out as you started, but we haven't got there yet. You directed me to a link yesterday but 95% of the posts is just like the one above , I copied and pasted from Twitter. It is the same old song!

All the best and good luck to Nigeria.

The headline is fake news. Tinubu is not fixing any refinery. The refinery in question is the pH refinery and it has been under repair since 2021 and billed to be completed this year. And let me ask how their comments affect the refinery repair? Is it going to stop it from working well if the repair is well carried out?
With this info I've given you, were those pessimists right to be pessimistic or not? Why will a govt official lie so brazenly to Nigerians as if we're so daft we don't know what's going on? Buhari commissioned a private refinery that was not yet ready for business last month with much fanfare. Today, Nigerians are being asked to cough out thrice the cost for a litre of PMS. I tell you, if such as done in some European countries, the riot will be massive.
Nigerians have watched over the years while their leaders repeatedly carry out scams and fraud to decimate their lives. You really think such people shouldn't be pessimistic.
But i digress. Your caption is totally out of line with the line of our argument because you can't refer to Allen Onyema, DG of NCAA, former DG of NAMA etc as average Nigerians who are just skeptical for nothing or because they just feel it's fashionable to be negative. Sirika ran a scam. Even NCAA under him refused to grant Nigerian Air AOC. Yet he went and painted one aircraft. Let me ask you. If you ask a man to buy you a couple of buses for transport business and he goes to borrow a bus from peace mass transit, paints it in your preferred colours drive it pass your house only to return it to the original owners, would you say, "no biggie he's just unveiling" or run to the police to report a scam and recover your funds?
That's where we're at. If we see good, we won't hesitate to applaud it.
