What I do is irrelevant, but you kept referring to me as someone who makes $10 an hour. So why refer to me that way when it doesn’t matter? Same way you refer to me as fresh up immigrant, does it matter when I come here?

the above DOES matter because you cant objectively see the obvious subject at hand. you certainly believe that because "you" easily got a job, as you landed in America (regardless of what that job may be), you now think everyone in America should/would do what you are doing (regardless of who they are or what their profession is)....thus it makes me understand that A) you are talking about low paying jobs from B) people who are obviously clueless about the US and its poverty.

Dude, time again doesn’t matter because there are people who will never see anything good with any country or anybody, someone like you who uses microscope to see the little inconsequential bad things, forgetting the obvious palpable goodies.

you further make me believe that you are just a fresh off the boat immigrant when you believe that because people have running water and 24hs electricity in the US we should A) ignore the obvious poverty in America or B) we should therefore ignore what is bad about the US and pretend that EVERYTHING IS GREAT IN THE US...
just take a walk off the beaten track in any big citiy in the US and you will always be reminded about how much differences/poverty there is.

What matters is that God has blessed me immensely in this blessed country that I will forever be grateful to God and the US.
I don’t talk bad about the fingers that feed me.
Peace ✌️

and again, dont get me wrong....US/EUROPE are great places to live in, but to claim that there are NO POVERTY here is a damn lie from the pit of hell! but hey, i dont blame you for looking at the US/Europe like paradise on earth, because of where you come from...so "to you", with your African immigrant mindset, US/Europe is paradise with no poverty... but to someone who was born and bred there and who knows exactly what they are talking about, they will be quick to show you poverty in these places (even though such poverty may look like paradise to your African immigrant mind)

Dude forget those ingrates blacks/Africans. Trust me, there is no similarities with what is obtainable in any poor country to US.
America is a land of opportunities, where poverty is a choice. Quote me anywhere. what they call worse in America - society-wise, is still the best in Africa. Quote me anywhere.
It is not perfect, but better than the best in Nigeria.

Even human behaviors, customer care, name it, govt doesn’t abandon their people. Dang.

who in this discussion was ever talking about "whats obtainable in the west" OR THAT "Africa is better than the US"?!?? you have such an immigrant low self esteem mindset than now you are trying to shift the issue from POVERTY IN AMERICA to america is better than Africa. a blind man could see that America is better than Africa, so what? thats completely IRRELEVANT to the subject at hand...which is POVERTY IN AMERICA! Americans know there is poverty in America, THE AMERICAN CENSUS SAYS THERE IS POVERTY IN AMERICA, America is crawling under huge debts and many cant make ends meet (aka are poor), but this African immigrant who just got off the boat wants to tell us otherwise because he got offered plenty plenty low paying jobs, lol!

you people are so brainwashed that instead of having an objective opinion on this subject, you are acting like uncle Toms on their period because someone tells you a simple truth that doesnt go so well with your "USA IS PARADISE" views. you are so brainswashed so therefore because Nigeria is a shiiiithole, any place on earth away from Africa has NO POVERTY, right?!

Not nice.

I had a similar experience in 2003, either the guy wasn't sleeping at home anymore or his landlord was the one informing him that we were around.

Police at that time suggested to take his sister or even the landlord, i didn't accept it.

A tailor without his own shop, that he needed funds to make clothes and sell in Port Harcourt.

@MrBrownjay1, i have observed your statements about US/Europe, You seem to be an encyclopedia grin grin grin grin

But let me tell you a little about a country in Europe.

Government takes care of the education of their citizens from Primary -High school up to University and still pay them allowance monthly.

Any citizen above 18 years , even if you are doing a job of let say 5,000 naira, can comfortably walk in any car stand and select a car that you want and payment will be spread over how many years you like.

The last thing in the minds of the citizen is to build a house, cos houses are already built and all you need do is to apply, and it is spread over a period of time. This country has no Crude Oil, but the Citizens do not lack jobs.

They live a fulfilled life. Every system is working,

We have very big problem in Africa, talking down on people who are 101% better than us, we cannot even equate with them, Socially, Educationally, Economically, Technologically , just name it.

Ochimex is very correct and summarized it all, Poverty is a choice, you choose to be poor in these countries, because their government got them covered.

A) NO country in EARTH will give credit for a car to an 18Yr old not earning enough money to make repayments, UNLESS HIS/HER PARENTS SIGN FOR IT.
B) yes anyone can get a mortgage, and a great deal lose their home because they cant make repayments. you think all the foreclosures you see up and down is a joke?!?!?
C) again, you are not talking to an African looking down on Africa, you are talking to a French person born and bred (from African decent) telling you that there is POVERTY in Europe/US. stop using your wrong assumption to say that because we have 24hs electricy, running water, car loans and mortgages, there can be no poor people in the west.... the mnute you take a loan to buy anything that you cant afford, thats the definition of a poor person.
D) remember, this discussion is NOT about whether the west is better than Africa or not....anyone knows the answer to that question....this discussion is about whether or not there is poverty in the west.

I landed Nigeria yesterday from the US after 2years of Japing. Nothing seems to have gotten better, things have become very worse! How exactly do people live here in Nigeria? So many people begging you for money. Gosh, I can stay in this country for longer than 3 weeks. I can’t! I just cant!!!
The cab i took from the Airport to my apartment charged my 13k for a 35 mins drive It got me wondering how civil servants with families survive in this country considering how expensive things have become and salaries are constant.

Many Nigerians have Signed a Life Time Contract with POVERTY.

Enter plane pay for business class now and you will understand that Nigeria is really a difficult place to live in.

When I look at married gate men and office cleaners who earn less than 50k, I wonder the miracle they do to feed their families everyday.

Person will leave house with almost 200k and come back with shallow pockets. It now takes a strong minded person not to be sharing money to financially challenged people around like father christmas.

If you're staying for up to 3weeks, be ready to spend at least a couple millions unless you give up your comfort and have the heart of stone to be able to overlook people's sufferings.

😂 people in Europe/US catch public bus not because they are poor and can’t afford a car. They do that because of convenience, like lack of parking space and they do no want to drive long distance/ or not wanting to leave their car long enough at the airport.
There is no poverty in Europe and US. Anyone who is poor is by personal choice or illegal immigrant.
But Nigerians are subjected to poverty by fire by force by their leaders and it’s heart breaking.

Even homeless people (people whom drugs have destroyed) dress better than most normal people in Nigeria going on their daily business
