They are working for Nigerians

Nigerians are simply reminding Tinubu of his words to Goodluck Jonathan in 2012 over the latter decision to remove fuel subsidy

We are no longer living in the era of largesse enjoyed by the Jonathan administration, the world has moved on, a lot had happened within that space, nations economies have faced and continue to face immense challenges, which of these realities are you blind to?
Nigeria had excess then, that could be shared through subsidy, and the same people will still come back to steal the little change remaining. One of the people who benefitted then was, Patient Jonathan, she had vessels that brought in fuel...and get paid, hence her assets seized by FG. Unless you do not know jack about Nigeria's politics.

Believe this, Tinubu cannot do 8years. He is a regular politician. His ideas about national development is too abstract. Yet He announced removal of subsidy without consensus. Like He can come about national development alone. He thinks his elected subordinates has no option that to follow his action plan like a Godfather.

Political party Godfatherism cannot strive in national development because the support of the people is not as easy to get. Imagine 13million people voted against you out of 21million. And you decided not to be discreet in your decision making.

How i wish Tinubu didn't make that announcement and let it be rumoured until end of june. So that the masses could aswell prepare for this. Now, the oil marketer opportunists are voraciously feeding on the masses. Even NNPC also leverage on such announcement when depot price has not even changed.

Seriously, the masses have made a lot of sacrifices for the country while the government and the elite have made non. It now looks like the government is solely working for big capitalists against the masses.

We are ourselves heroes.

There's no preparation any masses can have for subsidy removal. It's a very painful injection that the country must take and stop unnecessary bleeding. We're feeding the whole of West Africa with stolen fuel for God's sake. We don't need Tinubu to spend 8years, we need him to do the right thing. What has come out of the 8years of others abi which kain mind set be this one?

I understand that most of the folks here are either kids or irresponsible adults who are still feeding in their parents home. They are so irresponsible that they don't know the heat their parents are facing as a result of this subsidy removal, hence, they always joke over or tribalize sensitive issues like this. That's just the fact!!

na waaa oooo, tribalism no dey even tire una ?
why tribalise and trivialize every sensitive issue affecting nigerians ?
Igbos have suffered so much in your people's gibberish rants, to the point of you guys sounding stupid ?

the reason why people are skeptical about this fuel subsidy removal is that it the only good thing everybody is getting from the government and it is very easy for the so saved money from subsidy removal to end up in politicians pockets without impacting positively on the welfare of the people, the big factor behind the rushed removal is dangote refinery,it is simple economics that the company cannot sell fuel at cheaper rate and make profits,
A decision like this without proper consultations and advice is totally wrong, for instance private motorbikes and scooter can help people go around cheaply but they are banned almost in all major towns in nigeria, can't they start from allowing private citizens to have other cheaper means of transportation?

Let's forget politics and face reality.

Subsidy is not bad in itself but porous security measures that undermined the policy and allow our petrol to be stolen is what the government should fight against and government should put up measures so that we can refine our own oil, not importing what we produce. We have only put the money in the hands of unaccountable politicians.

You know what it means for Tinubu not to spend 8years right?
Do you know we still subsidised petrol until june30?

Governance is not about shifting positions, it is about repairing positions.
Individualism is gradually destroying our country.
Tell me what you think will comeout of Tinubu decisions except we don't feed other west Africa countries and the cabals that we are supposed to deal with.
Generally I'm not against removal of subsidy neither do i want Tinubu to fail but the announcement without consensus is absolutely disappointing. Maybe it is part of good governance. I don't know.
Here is the retort strawman.

This last elections really opened my eyes to how "vindictive" the Igbo people are,the only reason why they are at the forefront of this subsidy ish is because Peter obi lost the elections, all the leading presidential candidates openly said that they are going to end subsidy "immediately" and subsidy wasn't even included in the budget so why the "fuss"? the Igbo people should be allowed to leave Nigeria alone, the south-south ain't going with them, they (IGBOS) should leave with their five states, their bitterness is disgusting.

"2 wrongs don't make a right" if we had listened to Jonathan,we won't still be here......if we don't listen now then when..... Nigeria is on the brink of bankruptcy due to high level corruption and misgovernace......I agree for minimum wage to be increased and I know that is the crux of the Labor agitation but they have been hand tied by getting involved with partisan politics which make everyone suspicious of them

they are working for Nigerians who are being affected by the astronomical increase of fuel price. You cannot increase fuel price without easing the pains that come afterwards. No salary increase, no palliatives, nothing!! If you're not affected by the increase, let those who are affected be fought for by NLC

If the civil servants get there wage increase...what of the private sector workers.....we need to be careful about this so as not to bring about hyper inflation.....there far more intelligent ways to boost the economy without bringing inflammation.

Governance is far more complex than you are just saying it

Tinubu lack the moral standing to remove subsidy no matter the circumstance

He vehemently kicked against it to the extent of sponsoring protests against the government of Goodluck Jonathan.

We are only telling him to do the exact same thing he told Goodluck Jonathan when the latter remove subsidy on petrol.

Is that too much to ask

Nigerians need to adjust......our livestlye of frivolities needs to be checked. There is no point embarking on a trip that isn't important, less traffic on our city roads, families using several cars in a day will need to adjust, people will then lean towards cleaner and environmentally friendly cars and buses.....no point driving a big keep or V6 or V8 cars up and down, unless you can afford the fuel.

No unecessary energy consumption.......electricity has improved tremendously,I am just ending a tour of benue, adamawa and Kano based on my job and I can attest to this, especially in Benue and Kano...... though transportation cost is really crazy and it's burnt my pockets but I already made plans to adjust.

Govt should reduce tariffs on alternative energy sources like solar and EVs,we need to wane ourselves of heavy dependence on fossil fuels.....think of the advantages,my wife for instance has been told to work from home for the mean time and I know many others like that and I also don't need to go out everyday for daily bread all we need do is be creative and gravitate towards critical thinking.

Tinubu spearheaded the formation of APC to takeover power from PDP in 2015.
As national leader of the party, Buhari wrecked the country economically,socio-politically & otherwise.
Tinubu felt no moral burden to criticize PMB's utterly bad governance, mindless looting by Buhari & his cronies & disregard for the rule of law.

Point of correction,I want whoever that governs the country to succeed but I'm of the opinion that subsidy removal should be done at least after fixing the refineries.

The masses have been completely traumatized under this wicked & demonic party called APC. Even if they free up money from subsidy, these criminals will end up looting it.

We have suffered so much in this country. Provide functioning refineries such that even if you remove say 80% of subsidy, the increase in pump price will be excessively much on the citizens

The exigencies of the time warrants a much more meticulous approach, Nigeria isn't as buoyant as we were in 2012 anymore.....if subsidy isn't ended now,it will end us.....I agree minimum wage needs to be reviewed upwards but like I said we need to be careful not to cause hyper inflation which would make matters worse....prices will come down die to market forces as we can see with diesel and cooking gas.....it's just for us to hang on a bit
