The Temptation Of "Expo" In NECO/GCE Exams by Joshuaomotayo10(m): 7:31pm On Jun 15, 2023
Do you know that at least 30% out of 100 students seek Expo during their examinations? Some go as far as taking their phones or finding other means to cheat during the exams.
In NECO/GCE exams, some students are attracted to a shortcut called "expo." Expo practically means students cheating during exams, either by taking in their phones inside the exam hall for answers, writing on their skins or a sheet of paper and every other possible means you can think of. It is also known as examination malpractice.

But why do they choose this path? There are many reasons, and here are a few you should know of as a parent.

1. There is a lot of pressure to do well, which makes students want to find a sure way to succeed. It can be pressure from parents, friends, religious leaders or anyone. They are scared of failure, hence, they seek a solution without studying.
2. Not having enough time to prepare for the exams and the fear of failing play a big role in why they desperately want a solution that guarantees them success in their examination.
3. Peer influence is also a reason, wanting an advantage over others, and not feeling confident in themselves also add to the temptation. They can also be influenced by the wrong group of friends.

However, choosing "expo" comes with serious consequences. It promotes dishonesty, and makes hard work and real achievements less important.

Students who get caught using "expo" face strong punishments that can destroy their academic career. If a candidate is caught engaging in malpractice, they may be immediately disqualified from taking the exam. This could mean that they will have to wait until the next exam session to try again. A ban can also be imposed on the candidate from taking the exam for a specified period.
