If you are not living under a rock, you must have heard of the loan bill recently signed by the new president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The recently elected president signed the Student Loan Bill into law on June 12, Democracy Day 2023. This was signed in agreement with one of the promises he made during his campaign to make funding education in the country easy.

This new development was regarded as a godsend that would provide possibilities for students who were orphaned and in need. According to experts, this will give these individuals the chance to get loans and pursue their educational goals.

A Twitter user, Nefertiti, wrote, "America has a massive job market. Yet millions can hardly repay their student loans. Nigeria has 133 million multidimensionally poor people, and unemployment will hit 46%. Instead of loans, give education grants. I hope you know that student loans are a knee-jerk populist agenda to excite the gullible."

Another user with the username Asiwajulerry wrote, "The government could have solved the massive unemployment crisis the country is facing before signing the Student Loan Bill. Taking a loan just to graduate and join the long list of unemployed graduates, I'm sorry, but this is an excellent bill signed at the wrong time."

Why is it that with every new president Nigeria only seems to be getting worse🀨

Instead of taking student loan, learn a skill and apply for weekend program if u must have a degree. There is no job anywhere for anybody. Guys who learnt a trade seems to be doing better.
