14 candidates eye ASUU Chairmanship seat in UNIZIK

No fewer than 14 candidates are contesting for the Chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

The aspirants were cleared on Thursday by the Electoral Screening Committee, headed by Comrade Tochukwu Orji-Okafor, Convener, ASUU-NAU Electoral Committee and the Zonal Coordinator, ASUU Owerri Zone, Comrade Uzor Onyebinama.

The aspirants are vying to replace Prof Steve Ufoaroh, whose tenure would expire in July

The contestants are: Okenwa CY Ogbodo, Peter Okoye ,Uboji Kingsley, Uju Ezenekwe, Etega Harrison
Darlington N. Onyejike, Joseph C. Senator Onyejiaka

Others are: Osita Nnajiofor, Okegbe Theophilus O., Amaka Metu ATM, Nnubia Innocent, Chinenye Okey-Onyesolu, Tonia Chigbo Obasi
and Gideon Ezu

It was however gathered that while the university management is interested in Dr Uju Ezenekwe or Okenwa CY Ogbodo to chair ASUU in the university, the majority of ASUU members in the university are rooting for Prof Kingsley Uborji.

The ASUU election is scheduled for July in the university.
