ANAMBRA State has emerged the first placed state from Nigeria in the 2023 edition of African mathematics Olympiad.
The event is an annual mathematics championship organised for students of basic and secondary schools in Africa.

Anambra carted best Nigerian prize by winning 24 gold, 20 silver and 33 bronze to win a total of 77 medals in the overall table.
According to the release, the feat places Anambra ahead of other states the country in the competition.
Congratulating all the states that won medals for Nigeria, the table further showed that Rivers, Abuja, Lagos and Enugu States placed second, third, fourth respectively.
Others are Oyo, Osun, Niger, Cross Rivers, AkwaIbom and Benue States that came fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th respectively in the ranking while Plateau, Kaduna, Delta, Ogun and Kwara States followed in that order.

Ebonyi, Abia, Adamawa, Bauchi and Nasarawa States took 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th position to complete list of participating teams from Nigeria.

My greatest disappointment though, is how far behind Imo State has fallen in educational matters. For a state that used to be among the best now dragging positions with the likes of Bauchi, Zamfara and co is very shameful.

Anambra has been shamefully soiled not only in Nigeria but also in the eyes of the international community. Every student from Anambra will henceforth be subject to tough scrutiny both home and abroad because those kids could sure beat the system.

Learning comes with willingness,commitment,diligence and sacrifice on the part of the students.

Hire the best brains to teach a child with zero or little interest towards learning, the teacher will fail in inculcating knowledge in the child.

Its not about big schools, but about children seeking knowledge and are all out to learn.
