It doesn't seem so mysterious once you understand the real reason why this story was seized upon: it seemed to offer the perfect opportunity for a certain group to portray themselves as victims of irrational "hatred" and "jealousy". Why should they deny themselves the chance to wallow in imaginary victimhood by acknowledging the true 1st place finisher was also one of their own?

The sick mindset behind this is the same one we saw with the recent outcry over the demolition of unsafe buildings in Lagos, even as Soludo had (responsibly) been doing the very same thing in Anambra for months beforehand. We saw it again with the cries of "Yoruba tribalism" by people who gave 95% of their votes to the mediocre Peter Obi, even as the supposedly "tribalistic" Yorubas in Lagos handed Obi victory in the state during the Presidential elections. They are outright obsessed with playing the victim card at every opportunity, no matter how glaring the evidence against it.

There are people who have entered university at much older ages, either because they wanted to read a particular course, upgrade their qualifications, or because poverty did not allow them enter university on time.

She's not even old naaaa......Thats the standard age for her level and by naija education system....u start primary sch by 6 finish 12...finish secondary 6 years later ....18/19 u do jamb.....

Some kids are just lucky their parents take them to private schools to start early at age 4 or 5.....still skip primary 6 to do common entrance early..... like u said poverty doesnt make some parents have the luxury to do all these things....

You have to single out a tribe whereas many other people of different tribes also participated in defending the girl at first or do you just have problem with the tribe, in as much as some people brought tribal sentiment to it, that does not mean that everybody saw it like that. I personally blamed jamb at first and that's JAMB as an institution when little information about what transpired was known and the blame was for JAMB to wait for an independent report before going public, atleast to know where the error came from.
