Good Afternoon my fellow Nairalanders. An argument occurred in my office yesterday concerning how profitable owning a private university can be. Please j want to know if it is a good idea to own or establish a University in our dear country Nigeria. Is it a wise idea or bad one. We have seen Universities like Covenant, Babcock, Afe,Bowen,Landmark etc with so many students, do you think they are really making profit? Please comment and help push this to the FP |

Of course it is profitable. My former governor Dickson will not be setting up his private university in his village if its not. 1 Like |

The universities you mention might make profit now but I am certain they had many years of loss making while they built up infrastructure and reputation. Universities are not set up for profit alone, but to educate. And if you set up a university for profit you would likely fail due to low standards, as you'd pay peanuts and therefore hire monkeys as lecturers. 2 Likes |
