Contrary to reports in the media, Federal Universities & Unity colleges are still tuition free. The increase only affects the cost of some services enjoyed by the students, see the breakdown below.

Some people complaining find it disgusting sending their 6 years old child to a school that charge less than 100k/term, not even a session.

What does it matter if tuition fees are paid or not so long as there are other services being paid for?
Free tuition fee is deceptive as it gives the unlearned and uninformed the impression that education is free when stricto sensu it's not.

You are how bad it's that even failure to pay even the least of those fees won't admit a student into class.

Nigerians want everything for free yet they spend millions in Japa. Nigeria is by far the cheapest and most affordable country to live in the world. 100k tuition, lol

If this monies are properly allocated, isint it over inflated?
This is where the FG should come in and question this ASUU criminals making massive demands from both students and FG yet they make little returns to both.
Quality of education solely depends 90% on the seriousness of student.
No commitment from lecturers and the university.
If after this increment, any university lecturer caught on camera making treats that he only offers 20% and the rest 80% is for students that lecturer should be flogged seriously.

Literally FG schools are now private schools in disguise.

5k endowment fee my foot.

Tell us something in the list that is above board? If the students are to remain at home, won't the parent spend more just on feeding?

Problem is, Nigerians are not realistic.

Tuition is free in Germany...at the cost of the kind of tax rate that if it was implemented in Nigeria, Nigerians will cry 'Let the poor breath' all day long.

No such thing as free education. Someone, somewhere is paying for it.

The circular dated May 25, 2023 and some people will say Tinubu government raised the fees.
We know them and God will disgrace them.

Op, you sure ay no be old story be this.
For the unity schools, it has always been 100k plus for new students, 30 to 45k for returning.
If you remove school uniform of 25k and other unnecessary things for returning students, you'll get a stable fee.

Certainly, in Germany, although tuition is free, there are additional charges that can accumulate to a substantial amount. Similarly, Nigerians residing in the UK have been expressing their concerns about the considerable cost of living, encompassing accommodation, food, and taxes. Nonetheless, it is interesting that some Nigerians still express dissatisfaction, desiring everything to be provided free of charge, going as far as expecting free petrol.

honestly I fell for those click bait, too bad even channels posted such. It didn't increase from 45k. New students have always paid 85 to 100k plus as fee.
All my kid bros actually attended unity schools and I've a sister in FGC kwali as it stands.
It's a click bait meant to mock Asiwaju, it's an old news but the media decides to report it now to paint Asiwaju in a bad light.
If you remove those uniform and other unnecessary fee from the books, I'm sure it'll be less than 50k for returning students who usually pay 35 to 45k as school fees in the past.

Don't be surprised that some parents with wards in Federal institutions will still be wailing and cashing cruise despite knowing the truth. Honestly, some people do not understand the consequences of some actions.

The point I made isn't bout the cost of those services but the impression your post and its title created that education is free because no tuition fees are paid.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a strong opponent of free education, at least of the dubious and deceptive ones offered by some state govts here. Education is a capital intensive project as needs huge investment which the govt alone can't provide. With very little coming from the private sector, end users of education (students) have to contribute no matter how small to ensure quality is maintained.

Again, your post creates a wrong impression in the minds of the uninformed ad that's what I'm against.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Let every school be charging 200k per year then both public and private with the current average income in the country and let's see what happens after that. undecided undecided undecided

Shebi you live in luxury that put you far away from those people? I will only pray that you won't be a victim of armed robbery, kidnapping or violence. I sincerely say that prayer for you because that is what happens when education dies down.
