This man don't encourage nonsense... I don't know about Ghana but other Universities offer scholarships and loans while depending on Nigerian love for foreign things especially foreign degrees to augment their cost ... Of course Nigeria Government have been generous to it's citizens, we must agree ... Biko don't mind those people that use to call us Zoo or other stupid name na Dem dey born ten pikins without planning, assuming we still maintain our 60 million population we would have been a very strong economy by now.

LOL...loans and scholarships are not like Nigerian loans and scholarships.

Loans in oyinbo land are meant to be paid back...infact in the US and Europe, there are guys who are paying back student loans...and some will be paying them back over 25 years or more. And the loans no be small loans....one medical doctor in the US was owing loans reaching 150000 dollars US from medical school alone.

Scholarships, yes , but they are not for everyone, and if you get, you still have to be in good standing academically, or you kiss the thing bye bye. And they may not cover your fees completely...I know someone who went to study abroad and got scholarships. She still had to pay at least one third of her fees...which was in the thousands of dollars.

Most students abroad pay heavily in loans .

It is essential to compare Nigerian universities' tuition costs with those of other countries to identify the affordability and competitiveness of education in Nigeria. Such comparisons can shed light on the accessibility of higher education and help students and parents make informed decisions about where to pursue their studies.

This analysis holds significance as education costs significantly influence access to education, choice of institution, and the overall quality of education received. By comparing tuition fees between countries, one can evaluate the relative affordability of Nigerian universities in an international context.

Additionally, these comparisons can also provide insights into the resources allocated to education in Nigeria compared to other countries. It allows for an assessment of whether Nigerian universities are receiving adequate funding to meet the growing demands of the country's population and improve the quality of education provided.

By evaluating tuition costs internationally, policymakers and stakeholders can identify areas for improvement, such as the need to increase funding for education or implement measures to ensure affordability and accessibility for all students. Furthermore, it can also serve as a benchmark to encourage Nigerian universities to enhance their competitiveness globally and attract international students.

Overall, comparing Nigerian universities' tuition costs with those of other countries is a meaningful exercise that can help drive positive changes in the education sector, improve the quality of education, and ensure that higher education remains accessible and affordable for all.
But you talk like a theoretician.

It would be nice to know also
That an average professor in America earns between $7000 and $9000 per month.

There is no single professor in Nigerian University that earns $500 per month.

We also want to know the non-school fee cashflow into Nigerian universities especiall from the Government

I want to know:
How much is the average income in Dollars in Nigeria

It seems we always defend the FAILURE of Government

LOL...

In US AND UK....they pay their fees via loans, because most of them come from houses that cannot afford the fees. (Yes, I have met actual students studying there, and they pay high fees....so na loan wey dey collect.). They also pay high tax rates too, and cost of everything there is too high for them to afford fees out of pocket.

The idiot should compare the living standard of those countries with Nigeria.
The better the living standard, the higher money people can afford to spend.

Why didn't He compare countries with cheap or free tuition like Estonia, Finland etc with Nigeria? πŸ™„πŸ™„

Tinubu should make sure Public tertiary institutions charge millions of naira in fees to come to terms with US, UK and Co.

Public universities these days are mostly attended by children of the poor.

The rich send their wards to Private universities or overseas.

Some rich kids still go to public universites (Ngige's daughter graduated from UNN last year, but then Ngige is of the generation that still thinks children must be educated in Nigeria for undergraduate).

Germany is tuition free. Semester contribution in University of Cologne was recently increased to 320€. That covers transportation and cheap food at canteen.
If your income is low, you could also get exempted from the fee. Plus the federal government gave 270 euros last semester to help every students, including international students.
Reno should be lying to you guys.

Germans also pay a tax rate of 45-50% of income for the right to have free education. If we implemented that in Nigeria, you will be upset.

And living expenses like rent come from pocket....

Is it a must Nigerians must go to school?

Let them learn skills or learn a trade.

These days electricians, furniture makers, welders are building their personal houses while graduates are jobless.

Even farmers are building houses.

University education is overrated.

Too many ignoramus fools in Nigeria think that things are just free in other countries.
I don't know who brainwashed these fools into all this false thinking.

Things are just generally way more expensive everywhere these days. Even the US is not spared.
The cost of food and accommodation is going through the roof.

He did not compare the level of hunger, insecurity, electricity, employment, infrastructures and many more but they are now quick to compare school fees. Same school fees you'll pay and after graduation you'll go back to learn tailoring or hairdresser while other countries would have a readily available job opportunities waiting for you.

Reno didn't mention that parents in those countries have multiple ways to raise the money either now or in the future.

Similarly, Reno and his minions are also not telling us about countries where education up to PhD level is free and yet, they have the best system in the world.

All of these assertions are half-truths. As an educator, I know that education is really expensive. But for a country that still a high number of uneducated citizens, couples with unemplyment even for PHD holders, tell me why education should look enticing to tue poor again.

If the poor and struggling don't find education enticing, tell me how human capital development of Nigeria can be raised. Tell me how Nigerians can be trained to become "normal" citizens like we have in most countries.

It is tricky with a sprinkle of foolishness for anyone to vehemently support the thieving political class now except you're benefiting from their largesse.

1.Not in Ghana

2.The other ways they have to raise funds in those other countries is through a LOAN...that must be paid back over time. Even if you get a good paying job, you will be paying back the loans for decades...maybe if you are lucky at least 10 years. And you have to pay expenses and taxes that are higher than in Nigeria.

That's why Nigerians who japa abroad on their Nigerian degrees cash out....nothing like loans.

Naaaa!

Don't be too sure.

A lot of high income families still have children attending schools like Unilag, UI, UNN, BUK.
the question is what is the ratio of high income to low income family? In a country riddled with deadly coruption, in a country with 40% unemployment rate, 30k minimum wage and unapologetically the porverty capital of the world.

Mantained 60 million population? You probably wouldn't be born. Population is not that of a problem na corruption, embezzlement and social vices that is hindering us not necessarily population. Other countries with higher population than us are doing better even with moderate resources

cheesy You can't appreciate Nigeria until you are privileged to have travelled far and wide around the world. It is mainly in Nigeria that house rent is paid yearly. In almost all of the countries I have travelled to. Rent is either monthly or weekly and quite expensive when you compare to Nigeria. Just making and example as to how the basic needs of life is very affordable here. Very, very affordable.
So its better for a salary earners to pay 2yrs rent as compared to monthly rent??

I still prefer monthly abeg
