For a long time now, the word PHABLET just disappeared from the public, am sure, it's a long time no hear for some, while it's new to some. But back then, 2013 to 2018, 6 inch phones were considered big, but now normal, this means time is changing the description. As shown in the pics attached. Phablets are the common screen sizes of today which are between 5.5 and 7 inches while above 7 inches are tablets. But I think phablets are now the common smartphones of today which are just referred to as phones or smartphones, while tablets are 7 inch and above. So phablets no longer exist (my opinion)

I think it's phablets we are all using now. people like tablets devices back then due to its larger display screen sizes compared to smartphones of tiny display screen size, but as technology is changing, modern smartphones are now being produced with bigger display screen sizes and bezel, of like 6.5, 6.6 and 6.7 inches, and yet still very slim design and portable and mobile to carry about, compare to tablets, that's more wider in size, and not so portable to move about or fit into clothes pockets, That's why people no longer desire tablet.

the thing is standards and form factors are also changing. We now have folding phones, flip phones e t.c Gone are the days when 5.0, 5.2, 5.5 inches screen display phone was seen as very big, they were termed phablets then, because the common norm smartphones then were 3.0 to 4.0 or 4.5 inches sizes. Now that standards are changing 6.5, 6.7 inches are now the norm smartphones, so phablets can't apply again. Who knows the future of smartphones display sizes would soon reach 7.0 inches and above, so there wouldn't be need for tablets devices again.

The samsung galaxy fold series (and All other foldable phones brand) is the new modern day phablet. I have a feeling foldable phones will replace all other types of phones soon in the future.

I completely agree with the op, time has indeed changed the description of smartphones based on screen size. The name phablet was common years ago because the screen sizes of that rime were 4.0 to 5.5, anything above was eighter called tablet or phablet. But with 6.0 to 7.0 being the popular screen sizes, people just call them smartphones.

But op remember that tablets were originally meant to support WiFi only and not sim cards, they were meant to be portable laptops. But when phone functionalities (gsm) were added, which is a blend of phones and tablets, the name phablet came into existence. This simply means a tablet with phone functions
