The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the commencement of registration for the 2023 WAEC GCE Second Series. This registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates began on July 10, 2023.


The exam offers thirty-six subjects, and candidates can check the available towns and subjects at www.waecnigeria.org. Registration will be online at www.waeconline.org.ng and will include biometric features for validation at exam centers.
The registration period will run until August 11, 2023, and the fee is N18,000. It is essential for candidates to complete their registration within two weeks after accessing the website.


The WASSCE for Private Candidates has two series per year: the First Series (Jan/Feb) and the Second Series (Aug/Sept). Candidates should take note that the 2023 WAEC GCE registration includes biometric validation at examination centers.


The closing date for registration is August 11, 2023, and late registration will be allowed with a fee of Thirty Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N30,500.00) per candidate, as long as it is done not less than twenty-four hours before the scheduled time of the intended paper(s).


Before obtaining the registration PIN, prospective candidates are advised to visit the Council's corporate website - www.waecnigeria.org - to confirm the available examination towns and subjects.
