The Trans-Saharan gas pipeline (TSGP; also known as NIGAL pipeline and Trans-African gas pipeline) is a planned natural gas pipeline from Nigeria to Algeria. It is seen as an opportunity to diversify the European Union's gas supplies. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Saharan_gas_pipeline Although the pipeline project has been under discussion since 2002. It became more pronounced when US blew up Nord stream 2 pipeline. The trans- Sahara gas pipeline is seen as best alternative to Russian gas. Now that Russia backed the coup in Niger, the military junters may want to assist Russia by interfering with the project.

It is a stupid project in the first place. Why pipe gas through insecure desert terrain where jihadists and criminals of all sorts can hold the pipeline to hostage? It should be scrapped completely. Let them carry their ships to Bonny, Eket and other southern areas to buy gas. 3 Likes |
