Pls,. Can you mentor me on how to teach mathematics using the British curriculum

Can you contact me on Whatsapp? I'll show you how to teach those panelists any topics, be it in science or Math using the British Curriculum method/style.

I assure you, it's going to be highly interactive micro teaching.

At the end of the micro teaching, the principal will be begging to pay you more than N150,000 as salary.

I've been teaching for the past 20 years.[/quote]

You are smart but you haven't found a way to manage introversion, I guess you buy slightly dark eyeglass and use it during the interview date.
Seriously, you're advising him to wear a dark eyeglass indoor during his micro-teaching interview??
You're obviously messing with the OP. 😂😂😂😌😂

I don't want to teach again.. I realized I didn't flop at first, they didn't just low me calm my nerves and I don't want to teach again forever, only if I later own a school.

I was already flowing today with the students and even the students cannot tell me what chemistry is all about, they hardly could answer a question I asked. But there were two staff there who kept throwing questions at me, at least u let me flow first and settle myself.

He asked d first question, I answered it and even explained it, then in few minutes he threw another question, and another and trying to confuse me.
At some point I forgot the answer to his question and it wasn't like I don't know it. Next thing, in the front of the students I wasn't even allowed to take the topic I prepared for, I was still making revision when I noticed that they weren't responding to my questions just to pick them up.

Immediately they asked me to switch to Mathematics, and teach offhand like tf? I don't even know mathematics that much, and even if I'll teach it, it'll be with a lesson note or textbook to flow well.
One was asking me to take simultaneous offhand and I just told him, where should I get the question ? Cz I am not a math teacher.

When I noticed that the staff were already leaving I just carry myself and left jeje.

Afterall I can succeed without having to teach with their meagre salary. It might be a big school and they still wouldn't pay well.
I'm actually done.

My previous post about a big school that called me for an Interview, Well I actually went there, did my test and when I was asked to come in for Micro Teaching where I was faced with Staff of the school and maybe the principal, I flopped and panicked heavily.

The fear was well written all over my face and I was just saying rubbish despite choosing to teach "Matter" as my topic. Immediately I came in and they asked for my name and few other questions before the micro teaching, my voice was already shaking as if I have never taught before in my life(they noticed and told me to calm down).

Although I am an introvert, I hardly face audience talk more of strangers and the quest to ensure that I performed, those things enveloped/swallowed me completely. I have never taught in such a big school before, I think my qualification was what made them approach me in the first place.

One of the staff kept throwing questions at me, I mean confusing questions just to know my depth of knowledge in the particular topic, and guess what? I flopped totally and became disorganized. But luckily, there was a man among the panel who gave me the option of coming back and prove myself that I am a qualified teacher as stated in my CV or I should take another topic I'm more comfortable with. So, I opted to leave and come back so I can regain my confidence.

Now, I have been given enough time to go and make research and convince them on Monday.
How do I conquer that fear and what are the things they look so I can prepare hard.
Thank you.

Confidence is what you lack not that you are an introvert

Choose a topic you are grounded in

In 2012 during my micro teaching interview, I simply chose " the alkanes" in organic Chemistry and none of the pane members was able to intimidate ne

Try and do more work in the area of class management because some of the teachers (now pupils/students) might come up with rude attitude in d cause of the micro teaching. Just a suggestion ooo. All the best

I am an introvert too. I disliked facing audience, had an have aversion for too much talking and had never talked when i attended an interview for teaching position. Though i was afraid of the interview, i has a fantastic interaction with the panel.

You flopped because you didn't prepare. Extrovert, ambivert or whatever vert would have similar result. When you're going for the next interview, tutor your thoughts, plan and prepare for your presentation. They will ask you questions and you definitely may not be able to answer all but you might be able to prove your expertise in the field beyond reasonable doubt.

I am surprised a big school will be asking a prospective teacher to switch from a micro teaching in Chemistry to Mathematics, two entirely different subjects.

Did you tell them you're a good Mathematics teacher as well?

Where is the school located?

And I doubt they're a good school. A good school that pays well only employs you to teach one subject. They won't be asking you to switch subjects in between a micro teaching.

Pele.

When talking, don't look at their faces or make eye contact. Look at the back wall above their heads. Pretend you are in front of friends and family. Imagination is wonderful thing.

Firstly, tell your mind you are taking students not adult
Don't look at them directly, look above their head.
After your presentation ask if there is any question.
Best of luck

So u mean in the whole of akwa ibom, no school pay more than 50k?

Akwa Ibom State.
Moreover, schools here hardly pay more than 25k, so I consider myself lucky to get a 30k job in akwa Ibom State that ranks top in unemployment.
Assuming I was in Lagos I'd have had a bit of ego and pride while bluntly resisting taking multiple subjects.

You don't have to change the topic. Changing it means you are not comfortable with some topics in the field.
They may ask you what happened in the Last interview : just tell them you were nervous

Rehearse with as many people as possible. Write down your teaching and almost memorise it.

Study technical questions like those they asked you in the interview.

I had once gone for an interview like this in a school when I was job hunting. Tho I had no experience with teaching. I was faced with micro teaching all of a sudden, as I studied Bsc computer sci I chose to teach computer components. I was nervous but had to hold it and still said reasonable things to them and the commend me for my performance. I didn't get d job cos I didn't do education and had no teaching experience and it's a big school with good pay.
Even currently where I work as a jnr IT officer, am to report to mgt during IT committee meetings. It also feel nervous but I still don't have to shy away from it. Just do it anyway with your best.
We all feel nervous during interview not becos we are unintelligent. It becos we are facing uncertainties and fear of not performing or flopping. U re not alone, do it with ur best and prepared.
