If you were made president of the federal republic of Nigeria today, what would you do differently and how would you go about it?

Fix the refineries
Remove subsidy
Rechannel subsidy funds into power and infrastructures especially road
Ensure Nigeria does not borrow any more loan for at least 4years
Cut the cost of governance . Move a motion for efficient accountability of every kobo government spends
Enact true federalism, let every state cater for their own needs

Lastly erase "state of origin and convert it to state of residence. If we want to be one let is be one, if not let everyone go his way

As good as all of these may sound, it's not going to be easy. Nigeria is a very complex country. A country with almost 300million people who just want results. The country produces and generates almost nothing. The average Nigerian does not care about these things, they just want results.

Simply urge the NASS to change the constitution to reflect the modern realities of the 21st century e.g
regionalism or regional autonomy. Decentralise government, strengthen the public institutions e.g. judiciary, anti-corruption agencies( death sentence for any detectable act of individual or institutionalised corruption).

There's so many ministries and organization doing almost nothing. The civil service accounts for very large percentage of the Nigerian work force. I'd start by dissolving most of these ministries, lump some together if needs be. That's a way to cut cost for a start.

@ the bolded, who'll pass the bill when the people who are supposed to make the law are the same people engaging in this corruption. No state is really poor in Nigeria. That some states don't generate much to the country doesn't make it any less than states that produce more. Kogi state Nigeria is a very good example. The state is very rich with resources but lacks leaders, governors who can't see these things and harness, develop the state to what it should be

If they're all dead. What next? What makes you so sure the people you're bringing in won't engage in the same brazzen act of corruption as their predecessors? That's if they don't turn out to be worse

It will o. They have a lot of questions to answer.
But it doesn't change anything. Most of them don't even have anything to do with Nigeria. They have all there properties and assets outside Nigeria. And you can't just decide to hold them to account for their crimes because we are in a democracy. This is why I'm a strong advocate for military rule. We've seen how people who have been accused of corruption feign sick or turn up in court in a wheel chair. Something you wouldn't ordinarily see in a military setting. People steal monies and when they get dragged to court, they use the same proceeds of stolen funds to buy their way out.

China is not as complex as Nigeria. They're one and they mostly speak one language. You can't tell who's a Muslim or a Christian in china. Unlike Nigeria where we are divided along religious and tribal lines. Over 400 ethnic groups with different cultures. A person is accused of corruption, they'd always be supporters of these corrupt individuals owing to tribal or religious affiliation they may have with the accused.

lol…not sure I’d spend up to a year before the corrupt system plots my removal or assassination, cause it will be brutal!

a. Mandate that financial statements for all MDA’s (ministries, departments and agencies) must be published on a quarterly basis on their respective websites.
b. All public contracts and the tendering process must be published online including a clear basis for awarding the winning bid. Certain personal details of all the directors of the public contractor must be published, as well as invoices for progress billing with a complete breakdown of what was done
c. Each MDA will have only one bank account that must be reconciled monthly and the bank rec must be published monthly, except for certain agencies that require a level of secrecy for national security reasons
d. Identify and shrink the unproductive employees in the public sector significantly. Why? We have a lot of rent seekers that are contributing nothing to MDA’s and/or are corrupt. Need to weed these people out to improve efficiency and reduce recurring expenditures. How? Set up a whistleblower mechanism. If anyone is found guilty of corrupt practices, they’re gone. Also perform skills/competency tests by a reputable external party to avoid promoting incompetent folks. I could go on and on
e. Create a network of pipelines across the country to 1. transport crude oil to refurbished refineries and some newly constructed modular refineries 2. transfer refined products to specific oil depots across the country. Our over reliance on these rag tag, renegade-style oil tanker drivers and their proprietors must end. These assets (pipelines) will be manned by drones and secured with high voltage barriers as a deterrent for pipeline vandals. In the end I expect this to bring down the cost of refined crude products significantly.

I have a lot to type, beht hand dey pain me. Due to certain laws though, there are things that cannot be done so quickly like slashing salaries of politicians. Lots of legal hurdles to cross on that path. Make I stop here

First, I will overhaul Nigeria's electoral system to make it at least 95% or more transparent so that only the majority vote of Nigerians will be responsible to elect any elected leader in Nigeria because that is the beginning of Nigeria's political and economic problems.

Why I will do this first is because once Nigerian politicians discover that people's votes count in electing them or reelecting them, they will start making policies and taking actions that will please the Nigerian masses and not some selected elites.

To achieve this, I will amend or change the electoral law to make it compulsory for every polling unit election result to be uploaded to a central server direct from the polling unit and then next phase will be to start the process of making the whole voting to become completely electronic whereby Nigerians can vote electronically from designated centers where electronic voting machines like ATM machines will be installed. I will also hire experts to look into the possibility of voting from home using electronic means which wont be exposed to rigging, if it becomes possible we move to that stage.

Secondly, any incumbent President contesting for reelection must step aside 6 months to the election and an interim government will be set up to be made up of CJN of all the 36 state of Nigeria or the CJ of the state will nominate one senior Judge, National Assembly (both those from opposition party), Head of Traditional rulers from each of the 6 Geopolitical zones. Leader of Nigerian Christian Association, leader of Nigerian Muslims.

Every ambiguous electoral law or paragraph or section will be simplified, like the 25% of total votes cast in Abuja will be interpreted to layman language. You must get at least 25% of total votes cast in 2/3rd of the states.

You must get at least 25% of total votes cast in Abuja.

You must also get majority of total votes cast.

The next thing I will try to also implement is partial restructuring of Nigeria, how?

Presidential seat will be made rotational in our constitution. The President of Nigeria will be rotated among the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria, and we look at the possibility of making it a single 6-year tenure. When it gets to turn of say Northeast, all political parties must nominate Presidential flagbearer from the Northeast. This will ensure equity and fairness, and it will kill the issue of agitation for secession.

Another issue I will try to work on is the possibility of making Nigeria's federal capital territory to be rotational among the 6 geopolitical zones also, but once every 30 years or 50 years, so that development can spread all over Nigeria.

I will also allow State and LGA Policing to ensure our security and Policing gets more closer to the grassroots and to involve indigenes of every state more in the policing of their state and securing their people.

As these are done in National level, Governorship seat must also become rotational among the 3 senatorial zones of every state with 6 year single tenure also.
