Experience On Trying Out A Church In My Area by AwokenVawulence: 10:35am On Aug 31, 2023
So on monday i was invited to this church conference that was held yesterday, i didn't really plan on going but the person i said i would go with begged me so I went . Getting to the church was quiet difficult because it was in a remote part and due to the rain that fell every was muddy (omo my shoe resemble mud boots when i reach 😂). We finally reached the church I saw some church workers holding up signs like " welcome to so so so church " and "we are glad to have you" etc. Can u believe that an usher carried me to the front roll (like why omo i felt shy oh).
Anyways ,the conference began ,the pastors hadn't come yet so we sang praises and worships till they came .
A pastor mounted the podium an introduce his self as the son of the pastor that started the church (his father was present) . He then gave thanks to his father also the church's founder for been there to support the church bla bla, he gave the microphone to the microphone to his dad and took his seat, his father introduced his self and started preaching and when he was praying see speaking in tongues even some guys where speaking in tongues omo i just dey look.
Half way into the service the pastor brought up the topic of how an air conditioning AC is undecided he asked his fellow pastors they said it was 500k per unit , he looked around the church and said it needs at least 8 units (that should be 4 million and mind you the church wasn't so big ) he then went on preaching. As the service drew an end the pastor said asked how anyone that wants to help the church should come out and say in the area he/she would like too (like usher ,instrumental, media etc some people even said business grin he assigned them to bring a unit of ac today). He asked a fellow pastor to give him some water and poured it on a guy ,the guy fainted and was caught be someone behind him.
After offering the pastor said those who want to donate specially for the AC program should step out grin, about 10 people came out (people get money sha ) he then told an usher should to get there names and amount he grouped them in how much they are going to give about 5 choose 20k , 3 choose 50k ,1 choose 100k and another said he will provide a unit grin, he asked the usher to "stretch " the 20k to 30k and 50k to 70k for those that said they will give 20k and 50k respectively. And he said to us that those that can give up to 20k should try and find a way to give that God will provide.
We are suppose to continue till Sunday but I doubt that I'm not going to the church again even some i came with was questioning the genuineness of the church.
So I just want to ask if this is how most churches work because I hear stories of how churches try to extort from their worshippers and this church is still new plus I'm someone who usually doesn't go to church except on Sunday's .
Mod's fp please
