Stop misinforming people. There is first class in the US. The only difference is that they use the latin honours system where instead of saying first class, you say it in Latin as follows:

1st Class Honours = summa cum laude
Upper 2nd Class Honours = magna cum laude
Lower 2nd Class Honours = cum laude
