FIFA Rankings: Eagles fall out of reckoning

Nigeria continued with its free fall on the FIFA world rankings. The latest release had the Eagles dropping from 43 to 44.

In August, Nigeria was ranked 38 and has steadily lost ground after a series of bad results.

Cote ‘d Ivoire dropped three places in the world rankings, but they maintained their place as Africa’s highest-ranked team. The Ivoriens are now positioned on 16 down from 13 they previously occupied in the September rankings.

Cote’d Ivoire and Egypt are the only African countries in the top 30 world rankings.

Egypt are placed 29th in the FIFA rankings and Number 2 on the continent. Ghana remained at 33 and third in African. Algeria placed 35th and Senegal at 42nd make up the African top five.

Nigeria is paying for the sin of not qualifying for the Cup of Africa Nations by drawing 2-2 with Guinea in Abuja.

The Pharaohs kept their second place by moving seven rungs up thanks to their 3-0 thrashing of Niger in their Nations Cup qualifier last month.

The Black Stars’ 2-0 away win over Sudan helped them to move up four places up and to occupy 33rd position in the global ranking.

World Cup winners Spain retained the top spot on the global rankings.

If the FIFA ranking is biase, is the AFRICA's CAF ranking also biase?, The only thing we can do for ourselves is make up for this mess by obliteration of the current national team and staff and call for a fresh hands and legs. Thank you. Freeman Remi David

Mr football analyst Caf has noting to do with rankings Fifa does the ranking for all it federations, e.g if Ghana is 15th Cameroon 20th Nigeria 28th Egypt 35th and Tunisia 48th respectively in fifa ranking then in Caf top 5 will be Ghana 1st Cameroon 2nd Nigeria 3rd Egypt 4th Tunisia 5th, in a nutshell Caf and other federations base their ranking according to Fifa ranking

Again this is what some of us dont know wen we talk about FIFA rankings, if most recent result are the yardstick for ranking then Nigeria should have been ranked higher than Egypt but this is not the case cos Fifa use the results a team accumulated for the pass four years, before it was six years but was later changed to four years, which means that the results we got in 2007 is still active wen they do their plus n minus in points. have you ever wonder why Egypt despite a 1win 2draws and 3lost games in qualifier still remain 2nd, is simple since 2006 to 2010 they were the triple champions of Africa and have accumulated points in the process so there current runs of poor form will only start to hit them hard come 2014/15
