your decision to japa is influenced by what friends say If your mind is made up already will you listen to anyone.
Some people actually believe if fellow Nigerians are many in a place they will cast it like Cyprus, Malaysia, Canbodia, South Africa etc

You have no money to travel, if you do you will not listen to your friends abroad.

I don't think the so called "friends" abroad will discourage anyone who has the money to relocate. I think the discouragement comes when they see you are likely going to be a burden they can't bear.

Let me share my own experience.

I have a friend, we graduated together way back, he is married with 3 kids and works in Lagos. He has been planning to relocate to Canada through school. I have even advised him on the issues just to help him make the right choice. However, I didn't know that his plan to relocate was for me to sponsor him by paying his school fees, supplying the POF for visa and him living in my house for the program. He said he will start paying me back when he arrives and start working.

I told him I can't afford to do that. Even if I have that money, there are still line up of people who are closer to me that requires assistance before him. Meanwhile he is still owing me a total of N1.15m for more than 4 years now and I have left it for him. I only give people what I can afford to loose cos there is no guarantee that the reciever will pay you back.

I told him that staying in Nigeria is probably better for him since he doesn't have the funds to relocate and he went to tell people that I'm discouraging him rather than helping him relocate and that I'm not a good friend.

hahahahaha madness

From a chat with a friend that faced such

โ€œโ€˜In May she reached out that she and her hubby got their UK work permit approved and need 5million. I told her to ask her older sis in the Uk. She replied that the sis just travelled and does not have. Oya ask your brother now, said brother wants to sponsor his wife via study route. Told her the last money I had was what I sent for her wedding the previous month and that I have my parents and younger brother to cater for. She responded with; โ€œwhy you go say you nor get? Wetin you Dey use all your money dey do?โ€ If not for old times, Iโ€™d have blocked herโ€

Wow. That guy made all those plans on your pocket, even after not paying you what he owed you before he made those plans. The gall.

Laughing from the West Coast grin.

Let me start by saying some of you guys in Nigeria only want to Japa without any strategy or plans of your own, and majorly because you've seen a friend or neighbor traveled out. Nobody can discourage you if you dedicated to the hustle.

Before I left for my MS/PhD program in the US, I self-motivated myself in the process for 3years, learning the ropes painstakingly even after rejections at the embassy.

I've tried to mentor and inspire guys to follow my method religiously after I arrived here, but lots of you guys are somewhat lazy, even before the first attempt. They think it was a one time/Chance thing.

If you're an ordinary Nigerian, you've got to leave your comfort zone and make sacrifices to Japa, for academic, business or career purposes.

Now, the moment you're being unserious, I don't waste my time.

Dat 1 no con consignee me again.. but I'm glad I run my own movement myself without having to worship him daily for bringing me abroad...

My advice for guys is that... if you have the finicial power.. just get ur information online and run ur own package... don't bother to inform them about your plan...
