My heart is already in Canada. Problem is THOSE THERE! They say not yet, do this and get that first, never mind I already have my ticket!

Oh, I don't plan to stay with them long at all (it's a family), and I don't have permit to work in Canada. It'll be a hustle life at first for sure. That's part of the dilemma

Did you say you don't have permit to work in Canada? The decision is easy then. Pls I withdraw my previous advice. Don't bother going to Canada if you know you don't have the right to work.

I thought you got PR. Stay back and take the job. I didn't know you were going as temporary visitor.

Please stay back o. I can only advise you to go if you have work permit. Better stay back and accept the 500k job.

Settle with the job, if your story is real. Open your ticket. Its valid for one year. Jettison Canada for now and use it next year on vacation, If your visa is up to 2 years minimum

This is not "story". This is my life!
All good and well but please understand I already have my ticket. The TRV is ten years or passport expiration date whichever comes first

It seems your visa is a visiting one, if yes.

Take the job and make more money, I believe the job will come with periodical leave, right?

Use the leave to go explore things in Canada, come back and continue your job while still making your plans, in 1 year or two or three years, you should be able to make enough money to get you PR, and also enough experience to get that top job you seek in Canada.

But if your visa is a PR (working etc), the only option should be continuing with your trip.

I have multiple entry visitor visa and your advice is about same as those already there. But I already have my ticket and Canda ideas. That's the bleeping dilemma!

Guy, you don't have a work visa. What you have is a visit visa. Stay your a.ss in Nigeria and visit when you are on vacation from your 500k job.

Although,I later learnt that it's a visitor Visa you have. In that case you might wanna postpone the permanent relocation. Since you got plugs for tech jobs, you can visit to try to leverage on that for a skilled worker sponsorship. Take the 500k job and fund your trips.

Thanks but I'm seriously leaning towards using this ticket NOW!

My candid advice to you as someone living in the US is thisā€¦I have watched Nigeria closely for the past 30 years or more and my observation is that things keep getting worse by day. Any problem you see today in Nigeria I assure you will never get solved but will only get worse . I remember how as kids graduate unemployment problem started small small under Shagari , today jobs are almost non existent, problem of NEPA started with taking light for a few minutes from the mid 80s to today no light at all, cultism in universities started with break bottles on head in early 90s to full blown killings in campuses, water corporations had taps running back then until the problems started manifesting in the early 90s today , states water corporation is dead with every now digging boreholes without minding the environmental damage in future, kidnapping for ransom started around 2005 with Niger delta groups kidnapping oil workers for money, today it has spread to every where in the country including all the major highways and villages, problem of Nigeriaā€™s refineries started around mid 90s , ordinary to repair refineries every country does have had Nigeria spend hundreds of billions of dollars with no single result that Nigeria is now importing petroleum finished products 100% now etc . In essence for the past 30 years any problem you see today will never get solved but will get worse and out of hand as the years go. Many Nigerians seem to live in the same fools paradise that Nigeria will get better lol. Nigeria seems like a nation thatā€™s cursed to get worse everyday why? I followed the campaigns of late Abiola and recently Obi and those men unlike other leaders I have seen before had a grasp of the real problems of Nigeria but were rigged out. My advice to you go for Canada. You get your PR after a few years and citizen after 3 years. It offers you endless opportunities. You can still find an IT job that allows you work remotely that way you can travel to Nigeria or anywhere in the world and work from there assuming you no longer like Canadaā€¦most importantly secure your future. Nigeria doesnā€™t offer you anything including job security and no labor laws . The way the economy is now heading to $2,000 a dollar that 500k will now become less than 250k ā€¦there is no future today in Nigeria and if you miss this opportunity it will become harder for you to leave because the country is getting worse by day..Good luck šŸ€

Thanks for your mature, very thoughtful advice. Serious food for thought. My intention was never to stay permanently in Nigeria. The only question is now or later. I also intentionally left out that the salary quickly goes to N1.5M.
Also what do you think of these screenshots above - people moving back from Canada

many a times Nigerians will not tell you the truth only the version they want you to believe. People can leave canda for various reasons. Apart from people from comfortable families back home , those ones leaving might have saved up to 10-20m or more and want to return home to invest but wonā€™t tell you that and also remember they have a safety net if their planā€™s doesnā€™t work out- they can return to Canada. The main reason that make most of us want to go back home is not even what you think and most wonā€™t tell you. Itā€™s the work. Here work is different from Nigeria and comes with much pressure. When your job is 8 hours you must give them that 8 hours and anytime your performance drops they fire you immediately without notice- the mortgage from your big mansion, car notes from your 2023 Mercedesā€™ , phone bills , different kinds of insurance etc are tied to that job so if you lose that job, you must find another good paying one within a month or you lose everything and file for bankruptcy and it moves very fast. You know most Nigerians work hard but do cherish the idea of doing this till they are 65 years..food is thrown away daily here in US , healthcare top notch and every good life you can imagine here but that work life that never stops makes us think of back home to rest from that crazy work life but for your own you can make good money from IT, live below your means, save money for some years and return to Nigeria after to work in IT remotely or invest in a business

As someone who works in recruitment in Canada, please don't try to relocate with a visitor visa,it will be very difficult to change your status, especially during this time of the year.i would say you should take up the Nigerian job,and then visit Canada during the summer time. The job market slows down during this time of the year(winter),so to get a company to sponsor you, will be the most difficult thing as there are thousands of people looking for Lmia right now in Canada.

thatā€™s the problem of Nigeria it keeps worse everyday in the early 80s most European companies had their companies in Nigeria . Nothing like tokunbo. My dad bought his two cars 504 and beetle with water proof on seats every thing new but by 92/93 he bought his next car as tokunbo Mercedes product. Nigeria always had bad leaders but Babangida was the worst. I remember under him prices of things sky rocketed in the market, many foreign companies like bata where my dad got school shoes for us left, Uk cancelled the free visa to Nigerians under him, a lot of Nigerians including professors starting escaping to Europe and America, mushroom banks that collect peopleā€™s deposit and vanish due to his policy, he was killing journalists too who write about him with his devil and power hungry wife Maryam. Babangida is the worst president of Nigeria and did most damage than any other president

And secondly sir, is it possible for one to get a truck training almost immediately over there even when one has no prior experience??
Get a G licence in Nigeria, you will use it to enter truck training school in Canada. Tuition fee for the truck training school is just about 5,000 dollars... After the certificate, I will not give you 100% assurance but I can assure you that you are in a better position of securing a Truck driving Job faster with your visiting visa....

Please forget about using visiting visa to get a tech Job in Canada, reason is, there are thousands of citizen, PR, Work permit holders that can fill up any tech openings....

My reasoning also. Bu actually the salary quickly goes to 1m then 1.5. Decided not to mention that here, also because I never intended to stick around

Thanks again for your post. So much info to glean from it. Yes, many Nigerians over there won't tell you the truth. Almost like they don't want you to come and enjoy like them. Or maybe there are things like work pressure that truly sour them. That and debt like you said. As for me, what concern me is the cold as cold weather - makes me sick. That and the racism y'all keep talking about
