The point I was trying to make is that it is unnatural for a 20 year old Nigerian University student to be so gullible as to hand over 500k to a complete stranger they met on social media.

That level of gullibility can only exist in a person of that age because they have never in their lives had to deal with the consequences of people you trust disappointing you, letting you down or even betraying you. You usually learn those lessons by socialising with your age mates or peers.

You're right that peer pressure can lead a child astray, but when you look at it realistically, your peers are the only people you can really socialise with as a child. No matter how friendly and jovial they are towards you, you can't play with the adults in your life, especially your parents, because 1. they're very busy and 2. They are authority figures in your life. Their role is to provide a good life for you and discipline you when you misbehave.

So, it's your childhood friends who will be your first experience about human nature and how wicked human beings can be. I remember when I was a 14 year old and my PS3 was stolen. That was the most valuable thing that I owned and I cried like a baby. You can imagine my sense of betrayal when I later found out that it was my best friend who stole it! That kind of lesson is painful to learn as a child. But once you learn from a young age that people can't be trusted, my brother, you have eliminated 80% of the future problems you will face in life as an adult.
