Estimate the number of times the machine will be use. Multiply it by that amount plus 7 extra. Calculate a unit to naira and estimate total in naira.

1000naira per flat is more than enough, which is 5k per month. My compound makes use of 1hp pumping machine and we contribute 400naira monthly for the prepaid meter. Total number of flats in my compound is 8.

Everybody's case is not the same. 5k per month may not be enough if they pump water 3 to 4 times a day like my neighbor's house.

It also depends on the size of tank

I got this from a Whatsapp group, it contains a breakdown of the consumption of one unit. I believe it was gotten from IKEDC site though I've not checked to verify. It depends on the horsepower of the machine and how frequently you pump water a day. It takes around of one unit to pump water daily. One unit costs ₦49.50. Multiply that by 30, that's less than ₦1,500. it should be around 2,500 if it's a 2hp machine. Except you pump water at least 3 times a day, ₦5,000 is more than enough to pump water for a month

First, set up a control switch from your flat to the machine to make sure no one pumps water without your permission or forgets to turn off the machine when the water is full.

Then charge them 2k per month and pump twice a day.

Whenever your neighborhood is having low voltage and you want to pump water , that machine fit suck d whole 5000 in less than an hour cos it will be on but wont pump nothing .

Except PHCN increases electricity tariff in the future, 5k is more than enough even if they pump water every two days.

Your major problem is if your neighbours will keep to their side of the agreement after 2 to 3 months. Humans are fickle-minded!

I think I'm in the best position to advise you on this.

In my compound, we have a separate prepaid meter for our pumping machine. The machine is 1.5HP which is like the biggest for domestic use. I am in charge of recharging the meter. We are 5 flats and each flats contribute 2k at every recharge, that's 10k. We use 10k worth of unit for about 3 months, sometimes 4 months, pumping twice daily. So 5k worth of units is more than enough for you. You should have some extra left.

However, this depends on the Power Distribution company in your area. In my area, they give 21 units per 1,000 Naira. If yours is lower, then 5k might not be enough in a month.

Pumping machine works faster when d light is full and consumes less unit.
When d light is hanging between full and low it will take way longer before the tanks get refilled .

It's more than enough. I have a similar situation in 6 flats. To find out exact consumption.
Note when the tank is empty
Switch off every gadget in your house
Note the units on your meter
Start pumping machine and time it. Till it fill up to know how many minutes it takes to fill up.
Then switch off pump and note the meter units balance.
Start figure minus Ending figure is units consumed.
( now switch back on your other gadgets)
Now check the last time you bought credit for meter.
Divide numbers of units by the amount to get the rate in Naira per unit.
Then divide the rate in Naira by 100 to get the rate per decimal unit.
Multiply the rate per decimal unit by the units consumed to fill the tank and you will have exact amount it takes to fill the tank.
In my case I only use PHCN, and do not pump with gen set as my get can't carry pump

Don't agree to this deal. It will not favour you.

In my apartment, we have 6 flats (3 bedrooms) and we contribute 2K per month totalling 12K for the pumping machine prepaid meter, some months the energy gets exhausted before the end of the month and we contribute again some other months the energy could take more than a month. it depends on the availability of power and the usage of the water supply. Before we got a separate prepaid meter for the pumping machine we were rotating the pumping machine on each tenant's prepaid meter on a monthly basis.

It's a good idea to inform them before accepting the proposal that each flat should take turns to pump water monthly for the next four months. This way, everyone can get a shared experience of the cost and whoever wants to take that responsibility will know, while others will also have an understanding of what the average price could be.

They gave you free money. You won't need up to that in 6 months. If it filled up in 1to 2 hours it will consume like 1-2units of your units. Collect 500 self from them just been a good man.
I pump for 4 flat in my place and they pay 500.

Why not alternate the meter that is used each month?

If U Use Submersible Pump U Will Be Using Almost The Same That One Will Fill Big Storex Under 20 Min... So More Or Less The Same...

I use 10k for 20 days for the one in my house but it's a plaza of about 20 offices and 2 very big tanks and we always leave the pumping machine on
