EDO 2024 Polls: Engr. Ikhine's Declaration Excites Edo People

The declaration of intention by Engr. Gideon Ikhine to contest for the Edo 2024 Governorship election at the APC state Secretariat last week was received with excitement by the people of Edo State.

Before now there has been calls from Edo People, irrespective of their political divide that Engr. Ikhine should contest next year's Governorship election having seen the vision he has for the state.

This call was answered last week with the formal declaration of his intention at the party Secretariat where the party leaders gave him the go ahead and enjoined him to further in consulting with other members of the party on his Governorship ambition.

The show of support from the people was very visible with the mammoth crowd recorded during his visit to the Party Secretariat. Those who spoke to The Groove Watch News on the declaration said they were happy that the man finally answered their call and wished him well in his aspiration. They promised to play their part and work for him in ensuring that Engr. Ikhine gets the ticket of the party (APC).

Engr. Ikhine has briefed the state Party executives on how he intends to transform Edo State to a choice destination with his vision of revolution in industrialization, agriculture, tourism and transportation. He said he was passionate about Edo people who are finding it difficult to live and promised to harness the resources of the state and put it to good use to better people's lives.

He acknowledged the high cost of living in Edo State and the insecurity which is hindering farmers in carrying out their farming in their various communities in the state and promised to solve the problem.

He said he also realized that lots of the aspirants do not seem to actually know the enormity of work in transforming Edo state. This could be the reason they are jostling for the Governorship position, adding that, if they knew the enormous challenge ahead,many of them would not be so anxious to get into the race.

Engr. Ikhine said he was not after the paraphernalia of office, but that it is the lives of Edo People that he wants to transform.

He equally promised to give all the necessary recognition to the traditional institutions.

The Governorship hopeful opined that being a Governor is not an achievement, but the ability to solve the state problems and leave a mark after one's tenure.
