This is subject to operational environment naw or are they increasing tariffs in other countries too
Are they the only Multinational company operating under this environment?

This company has embarked on a yearly increment even when dollar was steady at 700+ for about 2yrs. This can only be made possible because they know that there is absolute no competition in that industry coupled with poor regulations by the govt institutions in the country.

MTN their sister company from same South Africa also operate on the same environment with no increment over these years because there is serious competition in the telecom sector. If not that we have useless govt institutions in Nigeria, how will such fraud (disguised as operational cost) be allowed to go on for years? Do you know how many billions Nigeria has lost to this scam due to corruption and poor regulations by the govt?

In the West, many CEOs and directors of companies are serving jail terms due to corporate cheating and malpractices like this.

Poor people in Nigeria, unu sorry o.

Now you people will learn that elections have consequences.

You tried to be funny but you only ended up exposing how dense you truly are.

Let me break it down for you like you're 5 years old.

The astronomical increase in dollar rates, fuel price, and gas prices has made the ease of doing business become harder than Further Maths, even a teenager knows this, but you're trying to bend the facts.

These massive increases in cost of living has resulted in the shutting down and relocation of most businesses. It has also ensured that we do not get new foreign investors because nobody wants to do business where the cost of living is unbearably high not to talk of the cost of running their businesses.

As a result, the businesses who choose to stay have to make adjustments to suit the current realities. DSTV has increased subscription prices 2 times this year alone (something they used to do in the span of 3-5 years before), guess what else keeps increasing by the day too? Your guess is as good as mine. wink

So the next time you choose to lie shamelessly and try to shift the blame from your "egbon" who's terrible economic policies have destroyed Nigerias economy barely 6 months after he was sworn in, think again. Not all of us are as shallow as you are.

Elections have dire consequences!

You are right.

If they had voted the right candidate, DSTV Premium that was increased to N29,500 from N24,500 for don become N500 or maybe N200 monthly.

We go don build like 40 refineries in 5 months and fuel for don cheap like water. Maybe N20 per liter.
Mumu talk
Let them enjoy what they voted for. Elections have consequences.

This people complaining doesn't know that there's something called an Amazon fire stick. If they do, they would gladly Uninstall their dstv.

For 2 years now I have stopped using dstv. Anyone that uses a firestick for a day would realize they've been in bandage all this time with dstv

Firstly as a busy and family man, I do not have time to watch cable TV, I do not even own a DSTV because its a waste of money with few good channels to watch, Thats why i opted for TSTV last year because of their good kiddies contents but unfortunately they are messed up lately, Thank God Starlink came to the rescue and i got an IPTV subscription for one year from a guy here on Nairaland... So i watch premium channels (including DSTV) online and the kids also watch premium kiddies channels in their room.

If not for my family, Wetin concern me with TV program, Because i only watch Netflix or few documentaries whenever i'm at home and i don't exceed more than 3 hours watching the TV, the rest is on my phone or Laptop

May God bless Elon Musk... because i can't imagine myself paying such amount for a mediocre cable TV

Go for SLTV Metro digital

Any serious Nigerian can go without watching DStv for at least 6 months.

Nigerians have permitted this monopoly and oppression to go on for too long.

I have dumped DSTV completely since May when they increased Compact subscription to N10,500.

Funny enough, even my children who spent the most time on DSTV watching cartoons have moved on. They are content watching those same cartoons, even recent and current episodes on YouTube.

It's been 6 months now and they have never complained.

Smart TV, IPTV and Set top boxes are king now. I plan to get a Mi Box before the end of the year.

DSTV is gone for good for us. They have been calling me to subscribe for 1 month and get another month free...the best I do is just answer their calls and after that, ignore them πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

I was paying 10k a month for my router that provides internet for the entire house.

With my fire stick I get to watch all the latest movies, TV shows and other content that dstv can only dream about.

That's the same router my wife uses to browse on her phone too. As long as one isn't jobless, you aren't expected to watch TV the whole day.

Imagine paying 12k to watch Rambo. Nigerians are getting ripped off badly simply because we want to watch football lol.

At the bolded... please tell them!

Some people here are complaining about how much they will have to spend on internet subscription to watch TV in a month, as if they will watch TV 24/7 all through the month.

Only a jobless person would do that. Before May when I stopped subscribing for DSTV, we only watched the DSTV from 7 or 8pm on week days while on weekends, from 11am because the children were at home.

Ehn but that's for you as an individual but are your family not gonna watch TV

What they need is news and if it's little kids you are worried about, your best bet is to buy specific cartoons and movies you've vetted and load it on a flash drive

With the subtle LGBTQ cues being inserted into cartoons, the last thing you need is to just allow the child watch TV
