[God does not have rating for sin according to new testament standard, sin is sin no matter how small you look at it, it can send you to hell fire if you don't do away with it. A lier is equal to fornicator or adulterer base on what happened during the time of Jesus Christ when he was on earth John 8 vs 3-11.
A woman was brought to him and she was accused to have committed adultery but Jesus said something that made those people to be equal with the woman in terms of sinful lifestyle. He said, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her"vs7. Jesus would have said whosoever have not committed adultery but he used the word sin to equate them with the woman. So if you lie, gossip, backbite, beer false witness against an innocent people, you are not different from the that woman that commit adultery. This is bible standard in new testament era. Surely some type of sin are weightier than others if there is FORGIVABLE and UNFORGIVABLE SIN!

There are degrees to sin, you can't possibly think me that stole meat from pot is equal to a mass murderer. For this reason, in Islam there are degrees of hell and paradise, you land in whichever according to the degree of your good or evil deeds. It is even said that those with the most minor sins are thrown into hell for a short while before spending their eternity in paradise.
