You all might have heard the saying once or twice "a reader lives a thousand lives"

Well, that's not theoretically true. No one actually lives that long. But what if i could show you a guide to immortality --through books -- articles, journals, posts/threads, textbooks etc

Picture it this way - you pick up a book say Art of Manipulation by RB Sparkman (this book in itself details the experience of a man who under the tutelage of a con artist learns the tactics con artists use to 'con' victims of their belongings...as well as the tactics the con artist themselves use to avoid being conned) and you decide to read it.

You finished reading the book amidst your countless jottings & questions asked for insights on areas where you couldn't understand the author's school of thought yet. In two months you're done reading the book with most of your questions already answered.

At that point, you've basically cheated life itself

How you may ask?

You've absorbed not only the experience of the author but also the experience of the con artist who taught the author his methods -- both experience which took years to gather for both the con artist and the author --you by virtue of reading skipped those years...periods of time filled with both ups and downs for both parties concerned and what have you?
In two months, you learnt what two men took years amidst pain, joy, regrets, sorrow & fulfillment to learn.

And although it may not be all gathered experience authors divulge when writing their books but hey, isn't it better to read about someone's experience especially when you're as a first timer in a particular field/area than not?

or tell me something, which would you actually prefer?

Reading a book about the experience of a farmer who suffered huge economic losses due to pest infestation on his/her yam farm and how he/she was able to combat the pest ensuring series of bountiful harvest OR you as a neophyte farmer actually experiencing pest infestation on your farm.

or tell me, would you be willing to lose a child in your womb due to consumption of unhealthy food/toxic lifestyle as an expectant mother OR read about the experience of women who due to negligence, consumed unhealthy food which affected the baby in their womb

wouldn't you prefer to learn about such expectant mothers experience than to actually go through a distasteful experience yourself?

This doesn't apply to books and reading alone. Any medium by which others can share their experience counts. I be talking videos too!

I understand how you feel right now...even better than you do. The world is not all roses. Although no one prays for bad experience in any areas of their lives, there are some people who experience such 'bad experience' as their karma. Now these people choose to serve humanity by journaling their experience so you learn about it and don't repeat the same mistakes they made.

You cannot but help cherish the experience of someone else. While others write a book with joy in their heart, others write their books with sorrow, pains and distress in their hearts. The likes of which you can't even begin to imagine and don't wanna go through yourself

Read a book today.Save yourself and your loved ones some pain and tears. You don't have to wait to experience it yourself. Gather people's experience. Gather their knowledge.

And learn to apply context to your knowledge gathering. Verry important!
A knife to a chef is used for cutting food while to a murderer is used to end lives. Apply context and dont gather knowledge to deliberately hurt your fellow man/woman
