Former NLC President Adams Oshiomole was in the news recently when he called on Nigerian workers to fight for N35,000 a month as minimum wage.

Oshiomole also issued a veiled threat to the government that they would not enjoy Christmas if they failed to agree with the demands of the workers.

Almost exactly 15 years ago in 2008, the same NLC which Oshiomole had headed for 8 years was demanding for a minimum wage of N 52,000 or they would go on a prolonged strike:



For the observant and intelligent ones among you who are reading this, it must be clear that obviously, at some point between December 2008 and December 2023, something must have happened which damaged the psyche of Nigerians because the same Nigerians who were ready to fight for 52,000 minimum wage, have now settled for a miserly 35, 000!

This is in spite of the fact that the cost of living in 2008 made Nigeria look like an El Dorado in comparison to the suffering of 2023.

In 2008, Nigerians were paying N65 for a litre of petrol. Even when GEJ tried to increase it to N97 in 2012, NLC threatened to go on strike:



The exchange rate of naira to the dollar was N 117 to 1$ at official rate and N 120 to 1$ in the black market:



So the unsolved mystery of Nigeria is, what kind of jazz has APC inflicted on Nigerians to make them so willing to accept and even celebrate failure and low standards, even when it comes to fighting for their rights?

Or is it that Nigerians are just naturally unintelligent people with low IQs and APC was the first political party in history to find a formula for the exploitation of the mental weakness of Nigerians?

We are any-how people with little or no standards and value for oneself and human life. The masses are being fooled to endure hardship as though the Govt is taking measures to better the lots of the people. Ours is suffering with no hope in sight. I refuse to endure the Nigerian type of hardship ooo. It's an hopeless situation.
I wish Nigerians can wake up, unite and eschew tribalism even for a year and demand what is right and just. We'd be surprised how much we'd achieve.

The jazz is called Yoruba tribalism.

We have a cartel as government and historically when cartels holds power the people can suffer for a minimum of 40 years till it gets so bad and the will of the people will prevail.

Nigerians are in for a long walk. The judiciary and the institutions that are supposed to hold everything together is crumbling and there is nothing anybody can do about it as much as i can see.
