Abeg how many people dey use the diesel jet A1? The one that is important to tje common man is delayed

Diesel is more important than pms.

Without diesel the poor man won't have a job, where he works

The economy runs in it not pms. Every big industry relies on it

After that it's just additives and colors but the primary Petrol is already out and he can't throw it away

You are still looking at it from the elementary side of it.. It is more complex than you imagined.

Oga there is nothing like elementary fractional distillation, fractional distillation is fractional distillation and the process will happen in one distillator , once they turn it out petrol must come out before deisel

It is you that don't know what you are harping on.

Pms is the first product out of the heating process because it is lighter.

What is the issue is that they cannot be allowed by DPR to do pms for now because the tanks needs to be checked even though leak test was carried out on them

Chief close your mouth, why waste you strength.
Leave the other guy, make e dey cap nonsense dey defend ignorance, and their criminality.

PMS is Gasoline and it is the first fractions after Methane, ethane, propane etc (LPGs)

The lifewire of the small industry is the AGO unless you are making claims for barbers and small restaurants

Everywhere you see machines, AGO NOT PMS is at work including fuel stations unless the small ones in villages and hamlets

not entirely true, petroleum will still under further refining to meet the quality octane. So ur submission is not true.

Just isomerization if need be and additives but at that point petrol is already out of the distillator

Nigerians never stops o amaze me. Every time a story of Dangote refinery comes up, I see a lot of people complaining. Some go as far as saying the refinery is a scam.

First and foremost, there is no businessman who doesn't want to make money from his investment. Dangote wants to make money, and he has invested billions into this project, and he will do anything to make sure it succeeds. Like every other businesses, there are going to be hiccups and delays and other issues before it fully kicks off. This is not a fast food restaurant project. Engineering and mechanical projects of this magnitude will certainly face challenges before fully operational.

Why are people calling this project scam?? Like really??

Dangote wants to make money and he certainly will. I think you guyz should focus on your own life and projects cause Dangote will succeed with this.
People that are ment. The way they reason at times amazes me. I go spend money of that magnitude and the thing no go work? Well most of them haven't been to the location before that's why they are yarning dust

Your friend works as a labourer so he doesn't know what is what... Just carrying rod and cement about the complex

There is not section for pms. Everything goes into the same distillation tanks because there is no different crude for pms and others

You and your casual worker friend are both ignoramuses

Is PMS not one of the most volatile fractions of peteoleum?

People, during the refining process, PMS is one of the earliest products to distill over, while DPK and AGO, being heavier, collect lower in the tower and mostly after PMS is completely removed because PMS vaporises at lower temperatures.

So, WHY THE DELAY IN PETROL PRODUCTION?!?!?

Even physical processes are turned upside-down because this is Nigeria!

This is half truth and you know this can be misleading, unless you are ignorant of what you just typed which I assume you are.

Distillation is just the first step of refining crude oil. Distillation is where we get different fractions of crude oil byproducts. It doesn't ends there, to get a refined petrol it further goes through the Conversion process that further breaks down heavier hydrocarbons into lighter ones using "Catalytic cracking " here High temperature and the use of a catalyst is used to achieve this.
After this is the Treatment phase, where the refined petrol is treated for its impurities it contains. Hydroheating and desulfurisation is employed here.
The final stage is the Blending stage, here the now more refined petrol is added with other fraction products of distillation process to produce the desired blend of petrol to meet the specific requirements.

So you can see petrol still needs to be further refined unlike other fractional products like kerosene, naphtals, gas and the rest.

Sir, that's chemistry knowledge. In chemical engineering crude distillation only produce a small quantity of gasoline (petrol) which is not even situable of use because of it low octane number. The major unit that produces the bulk of petrol is the fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCC). The FCC will use residue from the crude distillation unit (CDU) called heavy gas oil or residue from Vaccum distillation unit (VDU) called Vaccum gas oil to produce a much higher grade of petrol and at a commercial quantity. If the FCC is not ready, u can't reply on the small low grade petrol produced on ordinary fractional distillation...
NB. I'm talking from a experience.

The refinery was built to address FX issues which ultimately in the long run reduces price.

No,all products are not run in one swoop.Infact, the fraction from the distillation column that can be used as petrol is usuallyof low octane rating.Refineries usually blend it with products from Reforming units and cracking units to get good petrol.

Thr problem is regulatory and is the best way to go

The pms line in that distillation tank will be locked so it won't flow out into the storage tanks for them.

The crude itself will be pump into the channels and allowes days to settle and they begin to trace for leaks because it is dark it can help to identify leaks in it line

Ok

This is not a government project so pessimists and naysayers can be sure it will operate, regardless of the delays and hiccups. Its not a matter of if but of when.

No private investment of this magnitude is built to not function. Or how will investors make their return without profit and how can there be profit it it doesn't operate.

I think cynics will better spend their time arguing other topics like whether it will reduce price, how long before Nigeria start feeling its impacts, etc.

Don't mind Nigeria citizens especially the Igbos......they don't want this country to work at all

They're only after disintegration
