I was once one of the multitudes of the world who despise prostitution and would berate those who partake of it.

That has changed now and for a good cause. Man tends to become more critical and liberal with exposure to knowledge and information.

And one thing my keen study and observations of humanity has revealed to me is that every man is out to survive by that which they readily possess.

In other words, humans are wired to adapt and improvise to survive by their natural endowments.

Also, every living being is selfish and this characteristic makes us hypocritical in a sense.

Let me paint you a scenario. Nigeria's former VP osinbajo is a pastor. He has a daughter who had everything monetary taken care of since childhood and was also brought up in a spiritually conducive household.

She is not likely to be motivated to prostitute herself for money in her lifetime. Such a daughter will be seen by society as better than her counterparts on the other side of the divide who do not have all the privileges available to the vp's daughter.

Meanwhile, it is a virtual certainty that if vp's daughter were to swap circumstances with a prostitute, she would have opted to prostitute herself too.

This write up is not necessarily to justify prostitution. It is to say that the world is full of pots calling the kettle black.

Nobody in this world, and I say this with a deep sense of sincerity, has the prerogative to judge another over what they do for survival.

As long as what you do does not harm another person or endanger the public, it is in order.

I am unable to understand the rationale behind the promulgation of laws criminalizing prostitution.

It's like saying a person should not make money from singing when there are people who are willing to pay money to hear him sing.

This topic is a cursory ruling on the broader topic of self help in general. Don't let the facade of morality hold you back in your journey of life and pursuit of happiness. It is a personal race and nobody else truly understands your plight except you.

The people who will pass judgment on your character do not have sufficient information about you. Only God can judge you.

And know also that the world is not a perfect place for a reason. It has been imperfect since the beginning and will not be a better place. If God wanted a perfect world, do you think he will leave the task in the hands of human to perfect the world when he could have created it perfect from the onset.

To this end, I'm not saying the world will or should change its outlook towards prostitution, I am saying, if you are a prostitute reading this piece, don't ever feel less of a human.

You are using your sensuality as a leverage and as a means to an end. It's the same thing every other human being does. They capitalise on what they have at hand to get what they want.

Mohammed Ali, Mike Tyson and a host of others made fame and fortune from beating the shit out of their opponents. Maybe they don't have talents that can impact the world positively, nevertheless, people were willing to pay to see them fight and they went on to build illustrious careers off the talent.

If the above mentioned superstars thrived off a violence themed industry that is on a global pedestal, how much more prostitutes who if we are being fair can be categorized as therapists. (abi Konji relief no be therapy?)

I think the world is very hypocritical about the subject of prostitution. Sex is a valuable commodity that others are willing to pay for. If the two parties involved have come to a consensus to trade sex for money, it should be no one else's problem.

Some people will be tempted to assume that I patronize prostitutes. This is not the case and in fact I have never laid with a prostitute.

This ideology is not strange to the elite. But they will not speak of it to avoid liberation and emancipation of minds which will result in a disruption of the prevailing social class system.

The ideology that "only God can judge you" is the most fallacious and hilarious thing I have heard so far undecided...

In an ideal setting, you would've been very correct, but in reality, what you're saying doesn't hold water, cause as long as you're alive, you will ALWAYS be judged by people undecided...

I'm not saying it's right, but I'm saying that it's the reality of things undecided...

Secondly...
You made an illustration using the VP's daughter and all. Lemme ask, are there people in bad situations who have clawed their way out of it without compromise? undecided...

If the answer is yes, then what this tells me is that, whilst situations can affect a person's behavior, a person's personal decision not to compromise regardless is the deciding factor as to whether a person compromises or not undecided...

Thirdly...
There are certain "stigmas" attached to certain "jobs" undecided...

Look at morticians ("mortuary attendants"wink, are you aware that on account of their jobs, lots of people wouldn't even consider being in a relationship with them even if they're the last person on earth? undecided...

How about military women? Female lawyers? Folks in the waste management business?

My point?
Being a part of certain industries will attract certain stigma to you. Now, if you're not ready to embrace with your full chest the stigma that comes with it, then you prolly shouldn't be a part of it in the first place undecided...

In summary...
I have absolutely no issue with women who choose to wh.ore around for money, it's their life and it's their choice, so they can wh.ore around for all I care undecided...

But don't come crying when the stigma of that decision comes back to bite you in the as.s, cause last time I checked ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES! undecided...

Favvy, oil dey your head.

In truth, like OP mentioned, no one has the right to judge another. And put correctly, only God has the RIGHT to judge.

But remember also that the rules of judgment are clear expressed or implied in his holy book.

So although he understands that we are dust and imperfect, he trust each one to make personal decisions that honors him and shows respect for the gift of life.

Recognize that some persons are just slaves to glamour and trends, and will sell anything sellable to matchup the social media crazy moves

Well, I hope they also understand the duty to do better as their life situations improve.

This is not to encourage lazy girls who just ignore surrounding opportunities they can exploit and take the easy route of objectifying their body

In response to the embolden part, what do you think is the significance of the Biblical event where Jesus discouraged a mob from stoning an adulter to death.

For me, the take away is that everyone has the tendency to be compromise good morals under the pressure of life, but the ability to turn a new page, evolve and do better as life goes on is what determines everyone's final score card in the sight of God.

Jesus accomplished two notable things at that scene, he reminded the mob that they are not better than the adulterous woman and he admonished the women to go and sin no more.

And about the slaves you mentioned, yes there will always be people who do these things for ignoble reasons. We can't generalise based on them

You are in order, but sustaining your premise of Jesus and the prostitute. The fundamental take aways as mentioned earlier is that
1. no human has the right to judge another as non is perfect
2. Jesus never made attempted to justify her ways, in-fact he has judged her a sinner, but believes she deserves a second chance.

In all, we can only be empathetic to the many who have no choice. I sometimes feel the system and some parents failed a handful of them. But like Jesus, rather than try to make an unclean profession look clean, lets make the unclean persons clean again.

Non is perfect in the end.

I think the idea is people will judge but then they do, Don't be bothered.

Remember the biblical event where Jesus discouraged a mob from stoning an adulterous woman to death. He then told the woman to go and sin no more.

God probably knows people need to do what they have to do in their moment of need but they must keep getting better as they get more empowered

You said something about no compromising. Well, all humans are not equal in mental and physical strength but all humans must survive. The ability to persist without compromise is not just innate to some people.

And yes, people should totally own up to the consequences of their actions.

The biggest stigma remains poverty. People should just make sure anything they do that may bring stigma also gives them good money. The money will cure the stigma (yahoo yahoo comes to mind).

In all, don't hurt nobody and that's it

Again, feel free to do whatever you want, but actions have consequences, even the bible said so undecided... Gal. 6:3 Be not deceived, God is not mocked, whatsoever a man sows that he will reap undecided...

I agree with you that we're not all equal, however the ability to stay above compromise is not an "innate" ability as you put it, it's a PERSONAL DECISION undecided...

In my very few years as a medical practitioner, I have never heard of an "anti compromise gene" grin... Or any innate ability that keeps one from compromise grin, I believe it's a personal decision, but I'm open to learning sha undecided...

And yes, people should totally own up to the consequences of their actions. Agreed!
