The AFCON round of 16 clash between fierce rivals Nigeria Vs Cameroon; an iconic and historic clash like no other will take place at the iconic stade Felix Houphoeut-Boigny in Abidjan-the venue of their first ever AFCON meeting back in 1984 where Cameroon ran out 3:1 winners.the only thing they can count on going on for them now as a team is history.

Same can be said for Nigeria as both teams have been underwhelming in the group stages with Nigeria finishing second albeit with not so good performances especially the lacking of goals from the the forward line and the leaking of goals from the Cameroon back line.

In the group stages, Nigeria had a total of 41 goal attempts, 14 shots on goal and scored only 3.(one from Osimhen from open play,Ekong’s penalty and an own goal.)clearly Nigeria has a goal scoring problem which I believe the inclusion of Iheanacho against Cameroon can address to a certain extent.
With Iheanacho in that frontline,Nigeria possesses a kind of threat which chukwueze does not bring to the team both in assists and goals and if we can get our acts together across the frontline, Cameroon CAN concede as we’ve seen in the group stage where they shipped a total of six goals and only managed to qualify as one of the best losers.

So my point is, Iheanacho can be a whole game changer for Peseiro and the super eagles in this crucial fixture.
Chukwueze’s performance has left much to be desired in the group stage matches he’s featured in and him starting again today when kelechi is fit should make us question Peseiro’s credentials as a manager.

So far we’ve managed to keep two clean sheets in the tournament against the hosts Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau thanks to Peseiro’s 3-4-3 formation against both teams and Nwabali’s solidity and command of his back line.
The defensive performances in both games were good but we need to start scoring goals especially when we have the most lethal striker from African right now in our team.we need to take the game to cameroon and be proactive,pragmatic and make a statement with this game so we can build momentum and head all the way to the final if we ever want to “do it again”.
