Deborah was a fair complexioned girl, tall, slim and rather busty, as all the young men around were openly ogling her and admired her beauty.
She is a delightful person; you can’t take your eyes off her.

Deborah just gained admission into one of the notable Universities in Nigeria.
Her joy knew no bounds as she received a message on her phone that early morning that she had been offered admission to study Nursing at Ahmadu Bello Universities, Zaria.
She couldn’t believe what she saw on her phone.

She quickly put on her blue jeans and white shirt and packed her midnight-black hair with a rubber band and it plunged over her shoulders as the hair style contrasted beautifully.

She ran as fast as she could, as she headed to one of the Cyber cafes in their street.
As she got to the internet cafe, she checked her admission status and found her name among the successful candidates.

She was flabbergasted with joy as tears of joy rolled down her cheeks as she jumped up for joy.
She could hardly contain his happiness

She printed the admission letter and paid the man.
Happiness radiates through her on her way back home as everyone who saw her were surprised and eager to know what brought about the jubilation.
Immediately she got home, she explained everything to her mom and handed over the letter to her.

Now, I was even more pleased when she thrust the admission letter from Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board to me.
Anyhow, I took the letter and read it.
My daughter was given admission to
study Nursing at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
This was exhilarating.
This was all his father dreamt of.

Not long after her father came back from work, he is a farmer not ordinary farm I mean notable farmer, he is well know in the community and neighbouring town as he has a large portion of land were he planted different cash crops and perennial crops such as Maize, Yam, Plantain, potatoes, Cassava, Cocoa and others to mentioned a few.

He was putting on an old shirt and faded jeans with a black boot.
He cleared his throat as he walked in and everyone greeted him and John, who was busy watching a football match on the television, stood up and collected the Cutlass he was holding from him and headed to his room.

Mr Shebotimo take a nice warm bath and
he sat on the three seater chair in the sitting room and placed his legs on the table in front of him as he relaxed from the day job.

Some minutes later his wife sat beside him and informed him about what happened when he wasn’t around.
Daddy Deborah, your daughter has been offered admission to study in the universities said Deborah’s mom as she handed over the letter to him.

Oh my God! What a wonderful God I served, this is all I dreamt of and it is coming into reality, said Deborah’s father, he felt a glimmer of happiness as he stood up from his seat and started singing, dancing and praising God.

He quickly ordered her wife to prepare a special meal for the family to celebrate their daughter’s great achievement.
He moved closer to where Deborah was standing and hugged her and praised her for making them proud.

Few minutes later the food was done.
There was a wonderful aroma coming from the kitchen and the beachy atmosphere was amplified by the aroma.

She bring the foods to the table in serving plates and place into the center of the table and every member of the family was served and they ate to their satisfaction.

Mom I enjoyed the meal, this was without a doubt one of the most luscious dishes I’ve ever had the privilege of experiencing. I’d certainly eat it again.” said John as he was licking his hand as if he hadn’t eaten something of sucht before.

Silly boy, you don’t know more than food said Deborah.
They all burst into laughter.
He finished the last of the food on his plate and carried it to the sink angrily.

On Saturday, Deborah woke up as early as possible and get prepared for school. She was busy packing all her luggages, foodstuffs, provisions, kitchen utensils and other stuff she needed in the school and within a very short time she was done with it.

She took her bath and dressed in a long flowing gown.

She ate her breakfast of yam and fried egg and their mum (Mrs Shebotimo was tidying the room while John was also preparing for school.

Some minutes later, Mr Shebotimo came out from his bedroom and Deborah greeted him.
She informed him about her departure.
Before she took her leave, her parents sat her down and enlightened her about life.

Deborah you know you are no longer a kid and the Universities you are going is a new world, I have a reason for saying that, the reason is that you are moving into a new environment where you knew nobody, you are going to meet different people.

I want you to be very careful and please you have to cut your cloth according to your size, you know how things are, but we are trying our best just to make sure you all have a good education.
Be determined to succeed despite the challenges you may face at any instance.

Her father cut in ……..

To add to what your mum has said earlier, Deborah, Deborah how many times do I called you, two times she replied, you have to be very careful in school and do away with bad peer group, a Yoruba adage said, a sheep that will associate with a dog will end up eating poo which means evil communications corrupt good manners.

Make sure you face your studies and you should build your mindset for an experience beyond the four walls of the classroom.
You should note that every part of the school work is a learning process that prepares you for the future of your dream.

Be reminded that time waits for no man and you are expected to make the best of your time by studying very hard.

And I pray that as you leave us today, the God I served will be with you and save you from all evils.
I wish you success, good health and God’s protection.

Words can’t express how much I appreciate your support and encouragement. …
I’m truly blessed to have a wonderful parents like you.
Thank you, Mom and Dad!
I really appreciate all your effort and advice said Deborah.
And I promise you that I will not let you down, I will try as much as possible to make you proud.

She walks into the room and brings out all her load as her parents see her off.
