...Gov. Aiyedatiwa Reserves The Power To Appoint Who He Wants —spokesman

The events that transpired in the second half of last year in Ondo State have undoubtedly left many people perplexed. The true intentions behind the actions disguised as “the interest of the people” displayed by Governor Aiyedatiwa and his people are beginning to become apparent to the well-meaning individuals of Ondo State.

Those who created a facade and escalated the issues around the illness of the late former Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and exerted pressure on him until his passing are now being rewarded for their “role” in their evil struggle.

Mr. Kayode Ajulo, who vehemently advocated for the prioritisation of the state’s interest, has just been appointed as a Commissioner by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The professed love they claimed to have for the state and its people during Akeredolu’s health challenges was nothing more than a sham. They understood the task allegedly assigned to them by Aiyedatiwa, and it was executed with precision. Now that the innocent man has passed away and found rest, Ajulo and his cohorts are being rewarded for their involvement

The clamour surrounding “Doctrine of Necessity,” “Resume or Resign,” and the various protests that took place played a significant role in the premature demise of our beloved Governor. Prostate cancer alone could not have claimed Akeredolu’s life so swiftly. These voices disarmed him of the resilience needed to fight cancer and ultimately death. It is a tragic tale, but it is the reality we face.

Aiyedatiwa allegedly organised, supervised, and coordinated all these attacks on his late principal and benefactor. Interestingly, on multiple occasions during that period, Aiyedatiwa would deny any knowledge of the activities carried out by Ajulo, Gbenga Omole, Akeredolu ON, and others. Today, time has revealed the truth.

The Deputy Governor appointed by Aiyedatiwa is a well-known political adversary of the late Akeredolu. In 2020, when Akeredolu sought re-election, Olajide Adelami allegedly unleashed terror in Owo, despite it is being Governor Akeredolu’s hometown. Adelami not only contested against the late Governor but also caused him considerable trouble. Yet, Aiyedatiwa saw fit to appoint him as the Deputy Governor. By the way, he had promised Gbenga Ale the deputy governorship slot to reward him for his betrayal but rescinded the offer at the last minute. Ale is still nursing his pain in shock.

Another nominee, Omowumi Isaac, was dismissed by the late Governor Akeredolu due to her alleged High-handedness. She served as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement. She was appointed and subsequently dismissed by Akeredolu. The staff in her office collectively wrote to the public, highlighting her incompetence and unprofessionalism. Coupled with certificate-related issues, Governor Akeredolu relieved her of her duties. Yet, she now finds herself as a commissioner nominee under Aiyedatiwa’s administration.

Alabi Johnson propagated numerous falsehoods and innuendos against Governor Akeredolu and his loyalists. Johnson Alabi stooped so low as to hurl derogatory names at the Governor, employ abusive language, and disseminate misinformation to sow panic and fear in the state. Aiyedatiwa denied any association with Alabi Johnson at the time. However, today he holds the position of Special Adviser on Energy. What knowledge does this man possess about energy? Is this what our state has been reduced to?

When Rasaq Obe wrote a letter alleging a forged signature, people believed he was being outspoken and courageous. Isn’t it clear now that it was all part of a script to discredit the late Akeredolu and incite people against his loyalists, who were shielding the late Governor from Aiyedatiwa’s alleged treachery? So now that Aiyedatiwa is Governor, everything is suddenly fine in Ondo State? Are Ajulo, Omole, Alabi, and others now content?

What did Akeredolu do to Aiyedatiwa that even in death, he continues to wage such a bitter fight against him? What a life!

Yemi Adegboyega
General Secretary,
Ondo Solidarity Front (OSF)

GOV. AIYEDATIWA RESERVES THE POWER TO APPOINT WHO HE WANTS —Spokesman

Reacting to the Group’s outburst, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said, “The Governor reserves the right to appoint whoever he wants to work with into his cabinet.

“This sponsored junk is coming from the same set of people who complained when the cabinet was dissolved and said he should have retained the exco.

“Now that he has reappointed members of the same dissolved Exco, they are also complaining. There are no enemies of Akeredolu in the appointments made by the Governor and those who have made themselves professional complainants should find a better job to do.

“Mr. Governor has a duty to run this State and he’s doing just that,” his spokesman said.

Even the complainant is wailing because he didn't get anything. Give him an appointment and watch him sing the praises of Ayedatiwa.
Those appointed should just work for the good of the state that's all.
