The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the final fare for the 2024 Hajj exercise, with Southern, Northern, and North-Eastern pilgrims paying N4,899,000, N4,699,000, and N4,679,000 respectively.

The final fare is due by February 12, 2024, to facilitate the transfer of funds.

Remember that until Tuesday, when Naira fell to a record low against the US dollar on the official market due to FMDQ Exchange data slipping below rates on the unofficial parallel market in intra-day trades, the chairman of NAHCON, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, had maintained that the 2024 Hajj fare will not exceed N4.5 million that was charged as initial deposit.

The chairman of NAHCON stated that despite efforts to maintain the stated rate, the volatility of the dollar exchange rate necessitated a required revision.

In an effort to lower expenses for aspiring pilgrims, Arabi reportedly actively negotiated significant reductions with service providers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in January. However, the week's unstable currency situation forced the Commission to take.
