Because of the financially turbulent times we currently live in, I did a little bible study on God and our finances.

📖 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
— Haggai 2:8

If God says the silver and the gold are His, then we must believe Him!

If we believe that God owes all the finances of this world, then our attitude to money will change radically. We will see ourselves as stewards of God to whom He has entrusted money to achieve His purposes.


📖 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich...
— 1 Samuel 2:7

If God has the ability to make a man/woman rich and poor, then it simply means He controls all the money in the world powerfully. Nothing is too difficult for God when it concerns finances, it all belongs to Him.


📖 Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
— Ecclesiastes 5:19

Having wealth and riches isn't just necessarily due to your hard work or connections, it is the gift of God!

Believe it or not, the reason why many are poor today is because the gift of wealth given to them at birth by God had/has been stolen spiritually!

📖 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
— Proverbs 10:22

We all know this scripture, but we often misinterprete it. The 'sorrow' this scripture is talking about is not the kind of sorrows that follow those who do blood money, armed robbery, occultism, etc.

Its talking about money got through undue hardship, overly painful struggle and overly stressful ventures. God can bless you with riches without you struggling painfully for it.

Why? All money belongs to Him. God gives riches to those He favours.


📖 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
— 1 Timothy 6:17

Most times, people have attained a high height financially, have a tendency to be proud and boastful.
However, it shouldn't be because the ultimate source of money is God, not necessarily out working, talent or smartness. The more money we have, the more humble we should be.


📖 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth...
— Deuteronomy 8:18

The power to get wealth comes from God. You can work all day and night, but if God does not empower you, you will end up in poverty.


📖 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.
— 1 Samuel 2:8

Our God is so infinitely powerful, He can raise a common beggar to the same exalted platform of kings, queens, princes, princesses and presidents.

God is the owner of all money.

📖... and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
— 2 Chronicles 1:12

Here God promised Solomon special riches and wealth. According to God's promise, no other king would ever be as rich as Solomon.

📖 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
— 1 Chronicles 29:12

All the riches of this world belongs to God. He gives it to whosoever pleases Him.


From all these scriptures, here's a summary:

1. Money is spiritual. Money belongs to God.

2. God exercises unlimited power over money.

3. God gives money, wealth and riches to man. It's a gift from God.

4. Unfortunately, God's gift of money to man can be stolen spiritually through the devil especially through sexual sins, (porn, masturbation, fornication, adultery, etc.) witchcraft, occultism, disobedience, etc

5. If we want to be rich, we must find favour first with God, He owns riches and He gives richly. The key to God's riches is pleasing Him greatly.

6. We must be hard working, God doesn't bless lazy people. When we favoured of God, He blesses our least efforts and they yield much results. In contrast, we may be hardworking, but when we lack God's favour, nothing much will come out of it.

7. The major reason why God gives wealth is to advance the gospel and salvation of souls globally. If God can entrust you with money, He believes you will use it to fund the gospel 100%!
