Mr Obi was also campaigning about removal of subsidy and he would have also been tempted to float the currency hence leading to what we have now. Let us not forget that Nigeria is not a producing nation. Most businesses whether directly or indirectly depend on dollar. We look for dollar for everything, even to pay school fees. We invest so much in other countries economy. To me, no solution in sight yet. Lets brace up for 3 more years... My possible solution: Let the country divide. North (Arewa), South West (Odua), South East (Biafra) and South South stand on their own and report to the central if need be. This country is too big (220million) to be controlled from one man... God will still bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |

@ Mr. Obolo; your name says it all, you voted for a dunce, so live with it. Obi would not have been foolish enough to float the Naira. Obi would not have created 48 ministries when revenue is only 3% and debt servicing 97%. Peter Obi would have ensured availability of refined products locally before removing subsidies. Peter Obi would have probed Buhari to recover our looted funds. Peter Obi would not have approved jumbo pay and expensive cars for president and senators. Obi would have reduced cost of governance at the centre by 50% of what Tinubu is doing now, borrowing to spend. Etc, etc. Tinubu copied Obi's idea but does not know how to go about it. I have always told whoever care to listen that Obi does have what it takes to lead a multi variant economy has Nigeria. He is more interested in popularity contest. The catches cruise at the slightest opportunity with ever success or woes of Nigeria and/ or Nigerians to appear in the news. |

He will remove subsidy and make $1 to be 1Naira in his first 3 month in power. Go and verify in Anambra. When he governed Anambra back then, he singlehandedly took Anambra to over 90% millionaire % of the population. He built the best road, paid the highest minimum wage (500k), and increased Anambra IGR to the top 3 in the whole Africa. |

123yes: How much is our cost of governance and what is the percentage to GDP? Ina just go dey throw nonsense English all around without asking critical question. So Obi will say, okay, all civil servants in parastatals, I am reducing your number by 50% and you think ASUU won’t ground the country? Abi he will go to National Assembly and tell opposition politicians that I am slashing your salaries by 50%. Let’s even agree they all slash salary by 50%, how much is that compared to your GDP and where will Obi get money to govern when we are using almost 90% of our revenue to service debt? |

I still thank God Tinubu is President. Had it been it's Peter Obi or Atiku, Nigeria for don catch fire. Of course Tinubu is on track. This is what would have happened had Jonathan removed subsidy 12 years ago which those complaining today would still have complained then but the irony of life is, the rich still remain rich while the poor keep envying the rich. 2 Likes |

I would now have believed again if he had not supported LP senators when they got the SUV from the senate. malali:It is a fat lie, all that is needed is a pronouncement and everybody will obey. The problem with dollar is that Tinubu wants to make more profit in naira by raising of the exchange rate since he spends in naira. Atleast Buhari started by banning dollar deposition into banks and other measures to save naira against other currencies but Tinubu lifted ban on all the products so that the demand for dollar will rise and he can make more naira from the available dollars to him. Now he is after BDC, making it more difficult to access by common man. |

If any of you had listened to Obi 80% of his talks was centered on spending Nigerian revenue, savings etc not on the corrupt political elites (evil structures) but on the poor masses. He emphasized that the multiplier effect will create a healthy nation , pay our debts, increase Nigeria tax base because ordinary masses will have more liquid capital in their hands and that spreads around indirectly and quickly to touch everybody. Obi’s plan would have spent billions of dollars from gradual subsidy removal on farmers to crash food prices and increase money in circulation in the country….that you don’t need to tell youths to join farming but when youths see farmers driving Mercedes’ products like oil marketers they will be forced to go into farming. Second area he doesn’t joke with is security. He made anambra the most secured state for 5 years before he left as governor. Third area he will do very well is education, healthcare and spending heavily on Nigeria small scale local businesses . The greed of Azikiwe and his brothers to dominate everything in Nigeria back then is the reason we are where we are today.. ojukokoro ole of some is what has kept us in reverse mode. To salvage what is left, it's better we restructure and allow regions have autonomy to chart ways to grow their respective economies. We should have State police, supreme courts etc. like it's done in saner climes. |

Speculating about what Obi would have done does not mitigate the reality of Tinubu's incompetence and the consequential untold hardship in Nigeria. Maybe Obi would have changed his mind and not remove subsidy, maybe he would have removed it and quickly reversed it, maybe I would have removed it or not, maybe you would have removed it...we don't know, and it doesn't matter. What's important is that Tinubu is the one that did, and as the president that he so desperately wanted to be, it's his responsibility to do his due diligence on the effect his policies would have. Fantasizing about what Obi would and would not have done is irrelevant to the situation at hand. 1 Like |
