THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE ARE NOW DRESSED IN DISGUISE, ARRESTING INNOCENT NIGERIANS IN LAGOS STATE AND EXTORTING HUGE SUMS OF MONEY FROM THEM!!!

Hello everyone, I decided to create my membership here on Nairaland to narrate what I experienced on Wednesday in Lagos state in the hands of the evil men of the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos state.

On Wednesday night, the 21st of February 2024, I was at Ladilak in Lagos and was going for my church vigil program at about 10.30 p.m. when some unknown men dressed in motif came towards me and ordered me to enter a vehicle. I refused to enter, thinking they were kidnappers. Then one of them slapped me and forcefully pushed me into their vehicle. When I entered, I saw some other men in the vehicle dressed in police uniforms. It dawned on me that they were men of the Nigerian Police Force. I asked them for their reason for my arrest, but they refused to say anything. I told them I was going to church. They asked me to call my church members for them to confirm, which I did. They collected the phone, spoke to the person, and confirmed it was true, but still did not let me go. They even told the person they were taking me to their station. They drove the vehicle and picked up about 20 other innocent Nigerians on the streets. Anyone who tries to resist, they teargass the person and puts them in their vehicle.

They drove me and others to their police station, called PEDRO POLICE STATION AT SALAMI SHUAIBU STREET, SOMOLU, LAGOS STATE.

We got to the station, and I saw some other innocent Nigerians being held at the police station, whom they had picked up earlier that same night. They're about 30 in number. Picked up for no reason.

Our phones were all collected from us. Shortly after, they brought in another batch of about 30 innocent Nigerians whom they had also picked up.

At this point, we were all about 80 in number. From the look of things, you would see that the people they picked up were Nigerians coming back home from work or closing work for the day. They all looked tired from the day's work. They were elderly women and men, people's parents, youths, middle-aged men, and women who did not commit any offense.

In the heat of everything, one of the police officers opened his mouth and said, "We must meet our target of 400,000 naira this night."

Then, they instructed me not to write any statements. They instructed others as well, while also threatening us.

I was at the police station. My pastor and church members came to tell them to free me, but they did not allow them inside the station at all.

When it was about a few minutes to midnight, they forced us inside the police cell.

People of God, it was very horrifying. It was terrible. Imagine being put in a cell for nothing. No offense was committed. Nothing. May Nigeria not happen to you.

I was locked up in the police cell like a criminal for nothing. I couldn't close my eyes throughout the night. Mosquitoes bite me throughout the night. It was a very long night.

Most of the innocent Nigerians that's were picked up, like myself in the police cell, were crying throughout the night because they committed no offense too. Most were old mamas and papas.

The next morning, around 6 a.m., they told us to start calling people to come and pay money to bail out; if not, we would still be there.

They charged me 20,000 naira for bail. They gave me my phone to call my people to bring the money for bail. Where will I get such an amount of money, especially now that things are very hard in the country? This is pure wickedness.

I had to call one of my people who knew about the case the previous night. She ended up paying 10,000 naira on my behalf.

This they did for the other 70 people. They told them to start calling their people to bring money for bail, and the money must be in cash. No bank transfers!!!

This is so sad.

I was released on Thursday morning, the 22nd of February, 2024, at around 7 a.m. So weak and tired. Already feeling so sick due to the psychological trauma of everything—the mosquito bites, lack of sleep, and body pains from sitting on the floor in an uncomfortable position all through the night with no ventilation and a horrible smell everywhere—packed up with other innocent Nigerians in a very tight cell.

This is my story.

Nigeria is over. This country is gone. Lagos State is finished. This is where we are right now. We don't have rights anymore in this country. The Nigerian police are after innocent citizens of Nigeria now. The Nigerian Police are after innocent Lagos residents, arresting them, locking them up in police cells, and extorting money from them for nothing.
This is the Lagos of our dreams.
This is the Nigeria of our dreams.

Please share this because It may be you tomorrow. It may be your mother or father tomorrow. It may be your brother or sister tomorrow.

Please help me share this to save a soul

The police can never be anyone's friend.

I sometimes pity them because they don't know that all the extortions and frame-up they commit against innocent Nigerians is a curse on them and their families.

Check out their life in service, nothing to write home about.

Children are wayward

Post service, the are virtually beggers and some even suffer from some rare medical conditions that will make you marvel where they got it from.

The injustice done this young man shall never go unpunished.

It's happening for ages. We all knew that Nigeria needs reform, but bigotry and tribalism would not allow us work together to reform the country.

I had same experience in Lakowe, Ibeju Lekki, Elemoro division. It was a sad one and I literally fought with them. These things seems to be happening in Lagos with anything being done. Nigeria Police has become kidnapper in uniform who demand ransom in the name of bail...

Is there a way this can be made popular?
Mods, please push this to front page.

The Nigerian system is messed up already.
Number 1 citizen - fraud (Bullion Van)
Number 2 citizen- bokoharam sponsor
Number 3 citizen - off the mic 🎤

And so on.......

Corruption in the high places. SMH

How do we even combat police brutality, scammers, Yahoo boys, banditry, Armed robbery, ritualists, oil bunkering, boko haram, cultism, budget padding, embezzlement and most of all TRIBALISM.

Even, if you report this case, nothing will change.

The country is down

Leave now why you can.

It'll get even worst in the coming months.

Nigeria was not created to work this long.

You'll be flat out derelict in your responsibility to your children if you've means and still in the shit hole.

A word is enough for who gets ears.

All this will stop with the creation of a state police where the police reports directly to the governor and not some random IGP in Abuja.

Nigeria is happening to you my brother.

Always thank your parents every single day. I realized the country would not work more than a decade ago and emigrated with my children.

Even the average Nigerians are as horrible as the police. Very wicked individuals.
