Why Jose Peseiro, NFF parted ways

More facts have emerged on why the Nigeria Football Federation and former Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro parted ways.

Peseiro announced on Friday he is leaving his post as Super Eagles head coach after his contract officially ended on February 29.

According to SCORENigeria, the NFF were keen to retain the 63-year-old but the two parties could not agree on terms of a new contract.

The NFF proposed that the gaffer will be on the same $50,000 salary, while the Portuguese demanded a record monthly pay of $120,000 to continue on the job.

“He asked for $120,000 a month salary, but the NFF offered to pay him his current salary of $50,000 instead,” an NFF official informed SCORENigeria.

“That was where negotiations broke down.”

Peseiro was appointed Super Eagles head coach in May 2022.

The gaffer led the West Africans to second position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Under his tutelage, the Super Eagles won 11, drawn four and lost seven out of 22 games.

My fear with local coaches is that they work with fear and favor. He who pays the piper dictates the tune. A foreign coach can never be intimidated by anyone.

How many times do super eagles play matches in a month that he will be paid that kind of money monthly?
In a year, super eagles may not play more than 5times and he will still be paid for the months which he did nothing

A home coach will do better if not witch hunted, sabotaged and given necessary supports. The major problem is that any home coach employed is never supported fully by his own people.

"According to SCORENigeria" - Believe the post at your own peril...there's no way he's going to ask for that amount. They probably offered him something lower in a bid to frustrate him and leave.

$50,000 per month from our tax and oil money to just one person and government can't pay minimum wage .
After the nations cup , what has he been doing? And he collects salary.

That man peseiro is overrated

He is not even fit to be a national team coach of any country.

He almost rode his luck to the AFCON finals

I'm so glad that Ivory coast eventually exposed his technical tactlessness and incompetence in that final game

Good riddance to bad rubbish
