I didn't believe I'd be creating this type of thread but I'm genuinely curious about what others think. A nairalander once created a thread similar to this but because of how he kept insinuating that anyone lightskinned was mixed with somewhere in the family tree, I didn't take him serious.

So, I just came across this thread:

https://www.nairaland.com/8025124/nollywood-child-actress-little-daniella#128861064

I haven't watched the video but looking at this girl, everybody would think she's just a normal Igbo girl but she's mixed.

I'm not about to talk about how lightskinned I was or about my family... Her story reminded of this particular young girl, at first, when I saw her, she reminded me of my ex. They're both very lightskinned and Igbos, my ex girl's dad is as dark but that didn't overshadow the light skin genes.

So, this girl I'm talking about is not just lightskinned but also very beautiful — she just stands out but unfortunately I think she's still a minor but I know she go down dey collect. I'm very 'Americanized' so the thought of getting close to her is scary because I'm handsome too.

Are you wondering why I said I feel pity for her? I know how guys desired to bed my girl back then, now this girl isn't from a rich family and I could see how those nîggas kept looking for opportunities to devour her. I know she has prolly started living that wild teen life because I could tell she enjoyed the attention.

But hey, are Igbos mixed?
Why are Igbos so lightskinned but aren't mixed?

Has there been any 'genetic makeup research' on the Igbo people?

white colonial masters really liked igbo/ibibio/benin women because they were neat and well cultured when they lived in west Africa so they married many eastern women and of course they gave birth to hybrids children their genes are still carried and transfered down to this day.

There are lightskinned people in other ethnicities like Igala, in fact, every ethincity has lightskinned people. I'm talking about Igbos because I've got Igbo blood in me and from what I heard my grandmother was so lightskinned she had colored eyes but her parents were full Africans. Her husband was darkskinned and my mother is darkskinned but the gene is still here, genetics is crazy!

And by the way, Igboland was one of the last place in Africa to be penerated by Europeans as it was known as the "white man's grave" due to the local diseases like malaria. The colonial rulers you're talking about came in the late 1800s, so how's this theory possible?

the whites married across all tribes in west africa, just that they liked eastern Nigerian women more, mind you, these marriages started over 300 years ago,so you grandma may have inherited their genes from her great, great great grand parents of over 300 years.

It makes sense now, maybe those Portuguese traders but I don't really believe this is just the reason. How can the intermarriages last that long but nobody documented them?

How about the perspective of Igbos being from the lost tribe from Israel and overtime by means of evolution retain some of its gene (lightsskin) to fit into the African weather while some couldn't.

There’s something in history that’s missing about the people of southeast.
They are obviously mixed with foreigners including the asians.
This is a 1000% certainty. Maybe the civil war and slave trade contributed to this

It wasn't intermarriage. It was pure mass rape and molestation.

Do you expect the socalled Master to pay bride price to the slave?

How did Asians come to that part of the world? You just reminded of this girl I used to know, she looked 100% Chinese but very lightskinned. She has little eyes like Chinese people, but even more lightskinned than that actress Daniella.

Why are these lightskin Gene spread across every place that speaks igboid language or Igbo? This is not just intermarriages or rape.

I think I saw you on that thread about how Igbos looked mixed and I remember debunking y'all but right now, it's really getting weird... Yes, there are millions of darkskinned Igbos but why is this lightskin Gene scattered all over Igboland?

Nowadays, that "little Gene" is literally overpowering the dark skin gene in Igboland. I actually grew up believing there was no darkskinned Igbo person grin and even if I saw one, they looked different from the other ethnicities — probably because of that stereotype in my head.

That's why it was easy to accept Mr. Ibu and other darkskinned actors as Igbos because they just looked different from other ethnicities in my eyes. The human mind is crazy.

Interesting cause every Igbo I’ve met has been dark skin like dark dark. I live in the abroad. I didn’t know there were light skin Igbos until social media. Igbos don’t really look any different than anyone else in Nigeria to me

Yes, I understand but I don't really understand why I'm surrounded by lightskinned Igbos. Here, almost anybody would tell you that there are a lot of lightskinned Igbos — they've successfully associated light skin with Igbos.

No white man in the centuries past married crude, local West African women who barely used leaves to cover their bodies. They used those women for their sexual pleasure and left them with fatherless children.
