I saw a post right now
https://www.nairaland.com/8026751/changed-life-oyinbo-man-gives

about a student named Kayode who got huge sum, because he helped a seemingly broke guy out with the little he had. Then the said broke guy surprise the guy with a very huge sum of money . Changing the student's story for good.

The replies on that thread were interesting as per usual with this space but I want to point out something that I feel is not right with some comments.

How people are going about the gesture like he is doing it just for the gram.

Of course, there is a huge degree of publicity purpose in the gesture as the giver also wants to drive traffic to his social media space.

But the point is that he(the giver) allegedly displayed kindness to a fellow human (the said student) as a reward for also showing kindness towards him(the giver).

People go on about how you should not give to the needy in public for fear of what exactly?

Jesus in the Holy Bible performed all his miracles in PUBLIC! At least in the presence of his disciples which still counts as public.

From turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana to feeding the Five Thousand, bringing Lazarus back from the dead etc. He even went a notch-up by publicly espousing a poor widow's "mite" . He did not approve of the said offering in secret but in the presence of the people that listened to him.

I believe Jesus was wise and did all these things to set an example, and also to teach about caring for one another and selflessness.

I don't see any wrong thing in giving out to the needy under any guise as long it is not audio. As long as kindness was shown by helping a fellow human solve their need.

This public display of kindness should be encouraged any chance we get because it helps to encourage other well-to-do individuals in the society to do more and help the needy among them.

Kindness in any form should be encouraged QED.

You can't tell a giver the method to adopt when rendering help...
UNICEF, WHO, and other humanitarian organizations takes pictures and video of when providing reliefs for those who needs helps...
The government takes pictures and video when providing amenities and alms for citizens...
So what's wrong in doing it for the gram...
Deciding to help in the first place supersedes whatever social media validations that follows...

I sell herbs tho
