...We Have Depleted the Defunct YPP Structure to Create “New Akwa Ibom Democrats” and Empty into PDP -Prince Ubong Edem tells Gov Eno

The International President of the newly created New Akwa Ibom Democrats, Prince Ubong Edem led the political leadership structure of the defunct Young Progressive Party YPP to defect as Akwa Ibom State PDP collapses the political structures of the defunct YPP alongside APC, SDP and NNPP an over 40 thousands defected to the ruling party, pledging allegiance and support for Pastor Umo Eno. to succeed and give way for peace to rain in the state and work in support of the economy development under the Arise Agenda of the present government at the state.

In his goodwill message from the former champion of YPP, Prince Edem, said Your Excellency today we are here openly to show our appreciation as sign of strength , loyalty and commitment and depleted the defunct YPP Structure while we Emerge “New Akwa Ibom Democrats” and have Emptied into the PDP family. We are about to work and we are not here to make enemies, Thank you for receiving us, we want to work and you work with us.

In the remarks of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, during a grand reception for the first wave of defectors from major opposition political parties in the State, which held yesterday 23rd March 2024 at the Ibom Hall grounds, he said,
"Leadership is given by God and we do not take the mercy of God for granted. Those who truly love Akwa Ibom State will join hands with me to develop and transform her for our collective welfare. I thank those of you who have seen the light and have taken the trailblazing step of joining me in the PDP. Now that you are here, I beg you to collapse all your structures into the PDP so we can work smoothly and in harmony. This will be proof of the sincerity of your defection"

As witnesses to the realignments, fence mending and repositioning undertaken by the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since its 11th January 2024 Supreme Court affirmed gubernatorial victory, one is left with the impression that the party in the State does not rest in its oars nor take the responsibility of providing leadership given to it for granted.

This mindset was made abundantly clear by the State Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno. Flanked by his amiable deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, PhD; the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; the Secretary to the State
Government, Hon. Prince Enobong Uwa; the State Party Chairman, Rt. Hon Elder Aniekan Akpan and a host of other leaders, the clergyman turned politician left no one in doubt of his dedication to the task of implementing and sustaining the gains of the ARISE Agenda.
