In the Year 2000, if you have 5K, you are a Big Man! smiley

Then with N100, you can eat Rice, Stew and small fish in a Buka. sad

But now 5K can't even feed a person well for Two days! embarassed undecided
You go use N100 eat in year 2000?

Even by 2000 standards, the first picture represented a regular Nigerian home, not a wealthy one.

No doubt, our world is moving at the speed of light. The second picture is soo fine. We look forward to seeing how rich homes will look in the next 30 years. I guess the difference won't be much.

Even 50 years from now the difference won't be much maybe a floating home

Abeg in 2000s which level of rich man be this because even as a middle class family living in koyi then our house no look like this. Biko. My dad had high taste for interior decor and electronic gadgets and tries to keep it simple.

Anyways it depends the on area he flexed his own big manism. Maybe those munshin area, Maroko or amukoko but definitely not in high brow areas like awolowo road ikoyi, okotiebor Kingsway.. grin

See as the house dey kill joy self . Even in the 80 s houses I grew up seeing didn't look like this.

In 1999 when I finished secondary school below is the shelf and tv stand my dad bought when he was changing our interior then. With very nice comfy sofa to go with it.

Did you mean what 200$ can buy in US as at 1999/2000 is still same as what it will buy currently in same US grin
MadamExcellency:
Convert the value of those properties to dollar with the prevalent exchange rate at the time and recalculate the cost in Naira. That radio set is N20,000 then divided by 100 (1999/2000 exchange rate) this will give you $200.

In 2024, the radio set will cost N1400 x 200 = 280,000. Then do for the VCR and the Television.

Ours didn't have a hanger. I just used that as a sample when I didn't get the exact type but it was all glass and in place of that hanger it has a flat glass tray that holds the TV. But every other thing about the shelf is accurate. Glass Wings on both sides. Very beautiful.

Looking back i think the gap between the rich and poor as being greatly reduce to account balance ...

In the 90's there are some gadget you dare not see in poor people home but today both rich and poor get dstv for house, use flatscreen, tv console, even yetunde omo iya alakara for my area dey use iphone ... times have really changed

Hmmm.. some will copy the rich and remain hungry. Why would an akara seller be using iphone? To what end? Is she making money with it?
I don't do such competition. When I'm rich enough to buy it I'll buy. Untill then I live within my means.

In the 90s I used to see the second picture on the media only to turn around and start building them for people and now sometimes living in one. Such is life.

Such is life.

In 8 months, all those 2024 vehicles all of you are going gaga for will become old models.

Hummer H2 was the shiznit in 2004. Now even Keke riders will insult you if seen riding in them. Some mortuaries converted them to hearses for carrying corpses.

Let's not talk about Blackberry phones cool

Don't good life as copying the "rich" ... i believe every good thing money can buy is for humans .... naa finance dey fall hand who no like better thing
in the 90's when i watch usher, nelly, fat joe n co, on channel 0, i note down the shoes and dressing , i save n starve 11myself til i can go to ojuelegba boutique and buy those things i crave ... don't know if thats fake life but i live my taste abeg
there is nothing wrong if you want a "good Life" and you stretch or strive to taste it ... remember YOLO !
