As Nigerians and other Nationalities top the list, A report from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada revealed that the cost of providing housing to asylum seekers was approximately $115 million between 2023 and 2024. Between February 2023 and February 2024, Niagara Falls hosted nearly 5,000 asylum seekers at the cost of $208 per day per person. They were provided with accommodations for at least 113 days. The expenses included lodging, meals, services, and security measures. The majority of the asylum seekers were from Nigeria, Venezuela, Kenya, Turkey, and Colombia. |
