Why Bobrisky, other crossdressers can’t be arrested or prosecuted in Nigeria – Police (VIDEO)

In a recent interview on Channels TV, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, shed light on why crossdressers are not arrested or prosecuted in the country. The discussion arose when he was questioned about the police's inaction towards crossdressers.

Adejobi acknowledged the existence of numerous crossdressers in Nigeria but cited the difficulties associated with proving certain cases. He explained that in order to successfully prosecute an individual for a crime, such as rape, all the necessary points of evidence must be present. Failure to meet this standard could result in the case being dismissed in court.

The spokesperson emphasized the importance of approaching legal matters reasonably and ethically. Adejobi stated that it is not justifiable to arrest someone without credible evidence simply for the purpose of prosecution.

One question posed to Adejobi wondered if cross-dressing itself is considered a crime in Nigeria. In response, he clarified that he was not aware of any specific legislation specifically labeling cross-dressing as an offense. However, he acknowledged that some individuals involved in cross-dressing may face allegations of engaging in unnatural acts. Adejobi stressed that proving these allegations requires substantial and credible evidence.

To gain further insight into his explanation, the video of the interview can be watched below.
