Here are some of the reasons:

1. I get to search for a product information and only one user gets to spam the whole search results with his useless, greedy and overinflated prices; you will only get to see few users who posts the right information regarding the searched product. I would like to block this user so I can see road clearly.

2. There are some useless recurring comments from certain accounts on different topics and sections that are irrelevant and plainly dumb and for such, I'd like a situation whereby I can block those users for eternity.

3. For personal reasons I would like some words to be muted from my end. I don't want any information about certain people or things. That way, I can be freely let anyone read through any comment from Nairaland that I hope to show them.

4. Some users are fond of creating useless threads in order to promote some of their useless porn websites and stuffs like that. I'd like to block those users for eternity every single time I see them.

5. Also, kindly provide a block button for Mods as well, they are not excluded.

Thanks in anticipation Nairaland. If you can't do all these things, then it occurs to me that Nairaland is no where near standard, but a ureaucratic organization filled with Inflexible developers and local champions.

But if you can do this. Then you are really worth it.

Most of your reasons are logical. But a comparison of your username and your 4th reason suggests you are inconsistent.
