Woman Killed In Lagos As Container Falls On Her Car At Ogudu by Klausxxx(m): 3:35pm On Apr 13
Tragedy struck in the Ogudu area of Lagos on Friday when a falling container claimed the life of a woman. The victim, who was inside a car at the time, suffered fatal injuries when a fully loaded 40ft Mack articulated truck toppled onto the vehicle, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The incident occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Estate Alapere, when the truck lost control due to a reported brake failure, leading to the catastrophic collision with the moving Nissan car.

Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, provided details in a statement, stating, "A fully loaded 40ft Mack articulated truck today fell on a Nissan Car (ABJ 692 BG) and instantly killed a woman at the rear of the car while the car driver survived unhurt with support by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Officials by N.N.P.C inward Estate, Alapere, Lagos."

However, the driver of the truck and his assistant fled the scene immediately following the incident, leaving behind a trail of devastation.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of Mack articulated 40 ft fully loaded container, while on a high speed lost control as a result of a brake failure and rammed into a moving Nissan car on motion by N.N.P.C inward Alapere, Ogudu along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lagos," LASTMA disclosed.

LASTMA Zone 2 officer, Alabi Olukayode, confirmed the handover of the deceased woman's body to the Alapere Police Station for further investigation.

Rescue efforts involved a collaborative effort between LASTMA officers, first responders, and bystanders who rushed to the scene to provide assistance amidst the chaos.
