You know I didn’t know Obaseki was fighting the Oba of Benin until I met a man from Edo about a week ago.

The man is from Edo North, I think Etsako, but he told me the Oba will not support whoever Obaseki presents because of the squabble between them; to the extent some Benin sons used to come from abroad to attend the court sitting of the case Obaseki has with the Oba in court.

Now, it seems the Oba has tacitly chosen Akpata as his own candidate. And should the Benin people of Edo South give him bloc vote, Akpata would have one leg in the government house.

I wonder why Obaseki would fight the Oba. And this man from Edo told me that Obaseki’s ancestor was behind the banishment of the Oba of Benin during the Colonial era I guess. He said the current Oba was against Obaseki’s candidacy when Oshiomole presented him to the Oba but Oshiomole assured the Oba that Obaseki would not be like his fathers but it seems Oshiomole was wrong.

Things seem to be aligning for Akpata.
Obaseki is the worse politician Edo has ever seen since 1999 he fight everyone , he play politics of bitterness. The man no go die well o

LP is NOT in this governorship race. Useless party that refused to allign with the political mood of the state. It is the turn of Edo Central, simple. But the useless party decided to sell their golden opportunity to a political nonentity. After elections, you guys will start crying as usual.

Who do you think LP should have given their ticket?

Please what is bad about that grammar? The grassroots is correct in that context.

"Is the newly elected president of Senegal a grassroot politician"

"Does" cannot used that grammatical context.

I am sorry if I come across as condescending, It was never my intentions.

One love.

Which ancestor? Mention a name? "One of Obaseki's ancestors" is too vague. Can you categorically say one of your ancestors was not involved in slave trade? Does that make you culpable of slave trade?
His name was Oba Ovonranmwen Nogbaisi.

He was exiled in 1897 to Calabar.

Details of what led to his being exiled shows that the ancestor of Obaseki was the one that betrayed the Oba and the kingdom then.

The Ancestor of Obaseki that betrayed the Oba was Agho Obaseki and the British made him the Prime Minister of Benin Kingdom after Oba Ovonramwen was exiled.

Ask questions if you are from Benin. And if you are not from Benin, then you shouldn’t be arguing with me.

PDP and Lp in contest is a high probability win for APC

APC was 35% probability while PDP held 42% but with LP in contest APC have 40% PDP 35 LP 25%

Anyone who’s a keen political follower, watcher and analyst in Nigeria, would agree that the Oba accepting to attend this project inauguration in person in this election period simply echoes endorsement.

The Edo governorship election is getting more and more interesting and unpredictable every day.

The road to Osadabey Avenue might be as smooth for Asue Ighodalo as we previously thought.

Olumide Akpata

But APC is oiled up to steal any election in Nigeria.
Before now, Buhari would close his eyes to an election in an area he was not interested too much in.
But Tinubu who lost the last presidential election now has his eyes in elections all over Nigeria in preparation for 2027.

Let's agree 40% Benin can speak and hear Yoruba due to the fact that Yoruba is an (official language) but I am not sure there's 100% pure blood Yoruba that can speak Benin, is there something I am not understanding

They even told us Benin no be Lagos lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

Bro are you still sleeping? A lot of Benin people have married Yoruba women over the years. These are just few of the results. Edo people generally have a very long history with Yoruba people. Come to Lagos, you'll see lots of Benin/Yoruba people. I was even shocked some years ago when I saw lots of Edo/Hausas
Dem plenty and it's cos Edo people are very open hearted and they hardly discriminate when it comes to marriage. Religion sef is not a barrier

I am talking about the oncoming gubernatorial elections in Edo state in a few months time.

Obaseki never banish Oba of Benin in Edo State. The governor and the paramount ruler are much friends. The guy is Lp members, so he will always told you lied and propaganda against obaseki and his government in order to market Olumide Akpata of Lp to Edo people. You should be wise in understanding Edo State politics and its grassroots level now. Olumide Akpata isn’t a grassroots politician. You will see the results of the poll

If you don't know history shut the Bleep up. It is well known to every Edo man the role obaseki played in the banishment of the oba a century ago. Nevertheless don't write off akpata yet, edolites don't like obaseki especially his high-handedness and godfatheristic tendencies and APC is a no-no.

He has a name that can be interpreted in his own language, Akpata is from Usen, in Usen they speak both their Yoruboid dialect called Usen and Benin. His full names are Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata. By virtue of the fact he comes from Usen, he can interpret his three names in the both languages he understands

A proper Edo man doesn’t bear these names so don’t make any fuss about it. It’s not the norm, it’s an exception. Not that you don’t already know he is from Usen, you just want to chase clout with it, they would still post news about Akpata tomorrow, even after this post, you will still go around bleating. It is not unique to Edo, Ika people bear Bini names, they can’t interpret it

You really think if he stood by the Oba the British would have rewarded him by making him the Prime Minister of Benin after they banished Oba Ovonramwen?

And when Oba Ovonramwen eventually died in 1914 and his Oba Eweka 11 was crowned, the British elevated Agho Obaseki above the Oba and made the Oba take instructions from him.

You really think the British would have given him all that favour if he hadn’t betrayed the kingdom in favour of the British?

When the Benin claim they are the father of Yorubas, I can't stop laughing. They bear Yoruba names, worship yoruba idols. You see Yoruba in everything they do.

I am yet to see how Benin affected Yoruba people, it is the other way round. Even, the bronze craft was learned from Ìfẹ!
