Journals like AlChE, ACS catalysis, nature chemistry, materials horizon etc are reputable journals for ChmE.

Yes, for science students, paper publication is important, but not compulsory. To correct you, EB1/EB2 is an alternative route to PR than H1B. The end game is PR, then naturalisation. Nothing can be an alternative to PR.

Although, the school's calibre might contribute, but work experiences matter most and how one's lawyer presents the case.

Yeah. If one gets published in any of these journals, say Semiconductor Materials or Advanced Biotech, getting approved would not be a problem. Wetin surprise me na why those tech workers who got retrenched did not opt for this option as a means to remain in the US after their studies rather than depend on tumbo-tumbo H1B

Yes. It really is a surer game of luck than the highly competitive H1B. You might not hire a lawyer, but sometimes last month I consulted someone who’s very vast with helping people file their EB1/EB2 paperwork, and he quoted around $4000 for me, na the amount scare me.

180,000 rubles a year for medicine. The beauty of it is that in Russia you can pay your school fees monthly or anyhow you want it. The federal government is quite lenient with foreign students.
Roughly that is about 2m a year in naira.

That is a steal. The average is $10K, which isn't necessarily what the busiest or top lawyers request. Even on the NL thread, 6K is the lowest I have seen.

I don't know about that, but consider this:
1.) There are parts of the US where no one wants to live/work/study/visit. Now, these aren't dangerous places or places full of trashy people. They just don't have much going on, low population, sprawled resources, and the job market there isn't the greatest. But, they still have opportunities. And it's a bit easier to get to the US if you're willing to work/study there. There's also the potential to get a higher salary because these companies know no one wants to be there.

2.) If you have the stomach for it, there are also work opportunities in remote areas in the US and Canada. Basically, Alaska, oil fields, mining, fishing, nurses/doctors/etc, and the tiny wilderness towns of Canada. These pay very well and aren't that hard to get. They'll train you, and there's a variety of positions. However, with most of these jobs, you're doing very long days, and in some cases, dangerous and/or strenuous work. But it's not like these jobs are all terrible. It's just not something the average person usually wants.

3.) Nigerians can join the US military. I don't know the details, so you'll have to speak with a recruiter and talk to other Nigerians that have gone through the process. It's not for everyone, but it's definitely a good opportunity, and they're having a hard time recruiting right now, so your chances of getting in are better. You basically earn citizenship through service, and just as important, you get great benefits, free education, and valuable experience. You could turn it into a full career and retire well. Also, the military takes care of its families, so if you have a spouse and kids, it could be awesome, but again, I'm not sure of how this works for immigrants.

That said, you really need to be careful and do your research.
