Many cities in the world have GDP over $500 billion while a whole country with over 220 million cannot maintain their GDP.

Continue voting in bad leadership in the name of religion and tribalism.

Please leave God out of this. This is completely deliberate human decisions that brought us where we are. No amount of prayers will change the situation until certain Nigerians let go of tribalism and religious fanaticism and start electing good leaders.

Gdp , abi na PDP whatever it is let common man have food on the table. What was our position when Obasanjo, Yaradua and Jonathan was there respectively? Let it be where it was then. We were sure of food and to some extent Buhari.

Number 4?
No, there must be miscalculation somewhere.
It's supposed to be number 50.
Since we have a drug lord as president

It can't slip but instead grow more before Dec.

You people have no idea about the investors this government have attracted to the country not to talk about other projects to attract more investors.

We used to maintain the number position with borrowed funds.

The naysayers go all dey alive to witness the turn around

Btw ,South Africa and Egypt are currently in serious financial trouble

We should be almost closed to the amount generated through FDI last year 2023.

If we are surpassing 2023 FDI before June, then by Dec, we should be able to bounce back more stronger

I read the story on Bloomberg yesterday. The projection was predicated solely on the devaluation of Naira. Funny enough, it was the same IMF that advised Nigeria to devalue Naira. Now they are projecting our GDP will reduce by 50%. The most negative part of the recent projection is that Nigeria will not reclaim the number 1 position anytime soon, i.e it will take years. We will see how things pans out.

The same IMF projects our GDP to increase by 3.3% this year. We don't know what to believe.

It's sad how this demonic oppressive tactless and confused party called APC has draged us several years behind. They happily removed and destroyed all the wins and achievements of PDP.

I felts really bad and ashamed when I saw this news in AriseTV yesterday. But then again, our people need to learn the hard way. Governance isn't for the old and mentally detailed people like APC has given us since 2015.

Ashawo, betting, stealing, amnesty, ransom, owo-ile, levies and many other things we love to embrace don't boost GDP.
Production of essential goods and services does.

If Nigeria doesn’t get inflation under control by providing security so that farmers can go back to farms and increase food production, then the trouble that will come in the future will make us miss the current dire situation.

IMF forecasting our economy is akin to a canadian doctor lecturing Nigerian doctors on how to treat malaria.

We have our own peculiar economics, they are always trying to borrow us more money instead of teaching and showing us how to create and preserve wealth.

They borrow money too but it works for them, we should learn to live within our means......The new luxury in the world is freedom.

If you keep taking IMF money, they will call for it one way or the other someday....and if we cant pay fast enough.

They will keep making new rules for us to live by.

Why do we always expect God to fit into where man was given the ability to take charge?

During GEJ, we had good performance and standard economy. But we needed something better and voted him out and brought in a dullard and since then we have been praying to God to do miracles.

If it is HE Obi,he was a failure in Anambra but did well in Education fairly because he owed teachers 13 months salaries and schools were locked for those periods.

Yes,GEJ Is a good man,did well economically because of abundant FX and funds due to top oil and gas performance until 2014 when price of oil went down to around $76 pb.
Nigeria Economy fell and Nigeria was borrowing money to pay workers in Nigeria.

I was just out of university then.A lot of educated and discernible people thought that he was incompetent having gotten the highest revenue in the history of Nigeria but squandered.
Buhari was even a terrible disaster.
Both of these people have never been proven to have good antecedents. They both fumbled and plunged Nigeria into this mess helped by the previous govts.

GEJ was the president when our GDP overtook that of South Africa to make Nigeria the largest economy in Africa.

I remember Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was the minister of finance and an Igboman was the CBN governor and Peter Obi was the DG of Securities & Exchange commission.
This was when the Igbos controlled the governance of the Nigerian economy.
The price of foodstuffs was within the capacity of most NIgerians.

After nearly 10 years of Fulani and Yoruba rule, the Nigerian economy has been destroyed by them. Nothing is affordable now. Even the GDP has almost halved.

Tomorrow they will tell you they built Lagos, yet today those Lagos illiterates have destroyed Nigeria.

Typical Yoruba reasoning.

When OBJ was the president, the price of oil was even below $20 per barrel, yet Ngozi Okonjo Iweala ran the economy in a way to ensure Nigerians were not as impoverished as they are right now. Every single commodity was very affordable and within the means of most Nigerians. Electricity was relatively abundant. OBJ even had enough money to pay petrol subsidy, unlike the current government that withdrew petrol subsidy on the first day of this administration, yet no one can account for the petrol subsidy savings, the government boasted they will use to develop the economy.

Today the oil price per barrel is $90, yet this government, in spite of the price of oil and in spite of the savings it is making by not paying petrol subsidy, has led Nigeria to the worst economic doldrums in the history of Nigeria.

If GEJ had an economy that gave him $90 per barrel of oil, and also did not have to pay petrol subsidy, GEJ would have performed better than he actually did.
Tinubu is the worst president of Nigeria, followed by Buhari.

I am sorry to say this.
Typical Yoruba reasoning has always been the best.
Reason they have always been the cynosure of all sane eyes and they have always been progressives both in Nigeria and abroad.

During Obasanjo, who even used the typical Yoruba wisdom to rule cheesy
how many barrels of oil per day was Nigeria producing?

How strong was Nigeria's foreign reserves?

How much debt was Obasanjo servicing?

How much FX came in during his govt especially as regards the telecos etc?

As for Okonjo, whom I respect, your question should have been why did Obasanjo sack her if she were so good?

And why did she fail during Jonathan period when the price of crude fell to just below $80 per barrel?

As for president Tinubu,I voted for him and I still stand that he is going to be the best President ever.
I don't do parties.I am not APC,PDP,LP or whatever and Tinubu does not know me.
I have never met or seen president Tinubu In my life but I believe so much in him.

Trust me,he will turn Nigeria around positively.

GEj made Nigeria the largest economy in Africa, with the assistance of people like Ngozi Iweala, Peter Obi, Arunma Oteh e.t.c. so he is several classes above the rest.
Perhaps, if OBJ had retained NOI throughout his tenure, Nigeria would have become the largest economy in Africa, so that's a little bit of bad luck for OBJ there. GEJ took the honours, thanks to him for bringing back NOI who performed her magic.

Much of the foreign debt we have now were borrowed by Buhari's government, and we all know that Tinubu brought in Buhari, and even supported Buhari for a second term, so Tinubu is very happy with Buhari's economic management of Nigeria, so whatever debt repayment Tinubu's government is making, he should not complain about it, because he brought in the government that put us in that huge debt.

Today the country's economy is in the doldrums and people are starving to death and you still think the usual propaganda that you people are known for, will wash. All your Lagos "big boys" are in Abuja, messing up Nigeria. That propaganda has long been exposed. Even northerners no longer trust anything with the southwest label. NEF has started to protest. The hungry northerners are also starting to grumble. Some have even died of hunger. This is now beyond propaganda.

I don't want to disrespect a gentleman like former president Jonathan who had the highest revenue that Nigeria ever had in its history but failed to bequeth legacy projects and achievements in his name other than rice was ₦7000, beans was blah blah during his period. grin

Mrs Okonjo disappointed everybody when Nigeria economy plunged just when oil became a merely $76 pb and Nigeria suddenly began to borrow money to pay salaries.
That was when it became obvious why Obasanjo sacked her.Obasanjo was the real guru running the economy.
It was during Obasanjo that poverty level came down but went up throughout Jonathan's tenure.

Pls,answer my questions one by one if you can so we can know if you understand anything economic or not.

Again,Tinubu will be the best President ever.

It was in GEJ's tenure that Nigeria became the largest economy in Africa. Not in OBJ's. Ironically, both OBJ and GEJ ran a good economy. The common factor being NOI.

NOI was the finance minister who brought Nigeria to that epic height, after many decades of many other finance ministers.
Even the way she emerged as the DG of WTO where she beat a myriad of other global economic experts to emerge the best. We all know that both Kemi Adeosun and Wale Odun combined, could never have gotten the WTO job, as they are vastly inferior to Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.

Now, more than anything else, what people in the street want are cheap beans, rice and other ingredients. Cheap fuel to power their houses and their factories to generate more jobs for the masses, more electricity to cut down on the cost of power. All these little goodies, the Tinubu government has destroyed in preference for the legacy project of an outrageously bloated contract of constructing the coastal railway, fraudulently awarded to one of Tinubu's allies

Only a Yoruba woman inventor,Seyi Oyesola is more important than Okonjo who will soon vacate the seat after her tenure. She is a servant to all president of the world.
The woman in inventor/Prof is more important than her.

It was Buhari who made Okonjo the WTO DG and she was grateful for that.
In what way had she helped her people.
Afreximbank is more important to Africans than WTO.

All in all,she is a lucky woman and we say kudos to her.
The Hausa Fulani woman in UNO is her oga.
Wẹ celebrate both of them.
Yorubas are progressives and we are the most achieved and richest people as Nigerians abroad.
